In case you don't know how empathy works, those are events in which there were large losses of death. People lost loved ones prematurely at the hands of other humans or society. Obviously, not everyone involved would be most amused if someone were to waltz in and begin cracking jokes about the incident.

Because people die. Real people die. They leave behind friends, family, spouses, kids, parents, and a whole host of people mourning them. Their deaths are published in the news and everyone is at least a little sad or disturbed or worried at this event. That's a whole different story from an obviously fake story about a friend that causes a few laughs.
