If that happened (not that it will, most likely Moldova will just seek EU membership at some point), and they complained, they can go pound sand for all I care.

Solution: hold a democratic referendum, region by region, with six months for campaigning in advance, with debates reserved and thousands of election monitors, in all of Moldova on the issues of:

1. Do you want to join Romania?
2. Do you want the status quo?
3. Do you want to join Russia?
4. Do you want independence for your region?

Haha, nice fucking try. Can't you get it through your head that neither Ukraine nor Moldova are federations? They are unitary republics. Why are you pretending everyone's like Russia? (not that Russia would allow any of this, after all, even spreading separatist views can get you up to 5 yrs in prison)

Pay Odessa for passage, much like Lithuania gets paid for passage to Kaliningrad. It's not unheard of for cargo trucks to move through several countries.

Yeah, I doubt that after losing Crimea & the current situation in the East , Ukraine would let that happen. I love how you like to pretend that ex-USSR countries universally have autonomous regions and apparently, cities even, they don't . Not to mention that they'd be getting really close to Romania. Serpent's Island is only about what, 90 miles or so away from Odessa.

Regarding comments, like you said, idiots abound.

Transinistria or whatever the fuck it's called, can't be part of Russia, no matter how much they want it. Russia doesn't have any links to it over land or even through the sea, unlike with Kaliningrad. It's better off being either what it is now or being an autonomous republic under Moldovan protection/semi-administration.

Oh, and Moldova joining the EU is a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time down the track.

Wouldn't it automatically join the EU if it joined Romania?

Whenever I see "self defense forces" it makes me giggle. When not pro-Russian, they're "terrorist/separatists" , when they're pro-Russian they're "self defense forces" . The old terrorist/freedom fighter dichotomy .

According to CNN this morning, the Ukrainian military opened another offensive; I hope that the Ukrainian military will back off, or, failing that, the Russians come to their rescue. As I've said before, I'm no fan of Russia, but I do support the militias due to my dislike for the Kiev authority.

And why is that?

Because the Kiev authority passively tolerates right-sector groups who go to intimidate those who disagree with the new government, not to mention, as was pointed out previously, the ousting of Yanukovich did not meet the standards of impeachment in the constitution, and then the constitutional court justices were sacked.

Nothing interesting about it. Assad is in Putin's "camp" and he doesn't kill ethnic Russians or Russian citizens...besides some of the terrorists that went to join up other Islamic radicals to fight in the civil war World leaders are obviously going to be hypocrites, just like other countries like America supports Saudi Arabia whom used a deadly crack down on protesters but on the other hand demands other country's governments step down for the same thing.

No, if anyone needs to get back off it's not some random poster on some random site and it's not the seperatist "dogs" whom are using the very same tactics used in the west. No, it's Kiev. If this goes on much longer Russia will intervene and it won't be Moscow praying that it's left still standing once the war begins.

Well it's not like the old opposition wasn't happy to let that happen when the ex government officials were still in power. Regardless, for one follow the peace agreement that was met which it hasn't...not surprising considering the western Ukrainians didn't hold up to the agreement they made before. Granted eastern protesters in various cities also refused to follow the peace agreement like leaving administration buildings until Ukrainian troops withdraw but it's not an unreasonable requests and that would of made deescalation all around more likely. That's much better than taking actions which they should know will only make their own personal problems a hell of a lot worst.

New military drills have begun,

Russia has begun extensive military exercises on its Ukrainian border following the escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine.

“The order to use force against civilians has already been given, and if this military machine is not stopped, the amount of casualties will only grow,” Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said during an official meeting in Moscow.

“War games by NATO in Poland and the Baltic states are not helping the normalization of the situation. We are forced to react to the situation.”

Shoigu said that the drills involve march and deployment exercises by forces in the southern and western military districts, and separate Air Force maneuvers.

Shoigu said that 11,000 Ukrainian soldiers, 160 tanks, 230 armored carriers and at least 150 artillery pieces are involved in the operation against anti-Kiev activists.

“National guard units and Right Sector extremists are fighting against the peaceful population, as well as a volunteer Donbass ‘anti-terrorist’ unit. Also security and internal forces transferred to Lugansk and Donetsk from other areas of the country are suppressing dissent,” the minister said.

He added that Ukrainian sabotage units have been deployed near the Russian border.

In contrast, Shoigu said that the pro-Russian self-defense units number about 2,000 and have about 100 guns between them, which have mostly been taken from local police stations.

Hey, remember recent OSCE visit to Lviv/Lwow/Lemberg/Ragul-city?

Image

The one that left "confident" that the Right Sector is a "civilized political party" and "disbanding it's militias right now"? These fine Western fellows should have visit Lviv on Monday, right after the Easter. Why? See, there is a tradition of "обливаний понеділок", ("Wet Monday") to walk around and spray water on random passersby’s. Sounds nice and pretty, right? Well, in the Right Sector's stronghold nothing can be right!

These are the photos from this year "Wet Monday" in the "Ukrainian Piedmont" (yeah, Lviv - "the Heart of the Ukrainian National Свiдомость"). Just look at faces of young men spraying (and kicking shit out of) people with reckless abandon! Think it's just some "Kremlinite propaganda"? Then what about an article on the 110% kosher Ukrainian news-site?

Lviv's traditional Wet Monday ended in scandal. Self-defense patrols armed with electro shockers arrested hooligans who doused passerby from plastic bottles and buckets full of water.

About a hundred teenagers in balaclava masks doused people, despite the fact that this year's wet fun on the streets had been banned (in years past Lvov were outrages that that ancient tradition had become a form of hooliganism) .

For "polivalniki" there was an isolated area near the Town Hall, where they frolicked at first spraying each other with water. For all willing there were free shower caps and raincoats. They used water only from fountains.

Part of young people decided that was not enough, and they moved to other streets where everyone had a shower in a row, including the elderly. Self-defense of Maidan detained hooligans.

Next. Nationally Conscious (pardon me, "свiдомыи" ) Lviv's activists (with or without some hints from the Right Sector - don't know), decided that organizing a celebratory march commemorating SS division "Galicia" is, well, not quite advisable - OSCE visitors from the West may (just, may) interpret it as something not very nice. So they've found a better solution!

At Mars Field... on May 9 there will be a prayer service on the Hill of Glory with the flags of all the countries that fought in the war against Nazism, such as Poland, Belarus, Georgia, the United States, Britain and other allied countries, adorned with black ribbons, next to burning candles. However, there should be no flag of Russia.

Inner logic of Lviv activists delivers LuLz and the pure power of WIN. Especially flag of Georgia. Nice touch!

[Sarcasm mode ON] I'm pretty sure that this course of action won't result in any conflicts and/or provocations during the celebration of Victory Day[Sarcasm mode OFF]

P.S.

This anekdote is becoming more and more popular in Russia, literally, with each passing day.

It’s an actual fact, that acting Ukrainian president Turchinov announced, that this year Kiev won’t celebrate Victory Day on 9 May. So Russia’s President Vladimir Putin promised to hold it there instead.
