No, we just wish the British conquered us and as such create a united south-east Asian nation, it wouldn't be called Philippines though since that's a Spanish name, so it's probably going to be called Victoria or something.

Personally I think the Hispanization of the Philippine was NOT due to inferiority complex in the side of the Filipinos. Rather they simply allied with Spain to face a common Muslim enemy.

Ya know. In Cebu, the Muslim Magalos slavers from Mindanao used to periodically burn the Rajahnate of Cebu. In Panay, the Noble Court of Madja-as was allegedly burned by Moros and in Luzon, the Kingdom of Tondo was reduced to vassalage by the Sultanate of Brunei when they established Manila (shortening of the Arabic word Fi-Ammanila, meaning "Allah's safety") as a satellite state under the Sultanate of Brunei's control.

In the meantime, in Spain, during the Reconquista, the Christians had kicked out the invading Muslims of the Umayyad Caliphate. The Spanish then made a divide and conquer tactic in the Philippines. They employed Non-Muslim Filipinos and converted them to Christianity, i.e. Visayans, and then attacked Muslim Manila and then waged the Moro wars against the Sultanate of Brunei, Sulu, Maguindanao and Lanao.

Since there were already a common cause-for-war between the Spanish who kicked out the Muslim invaders during the Reconquista and the Non-Muslim Filipinos who were made slaves by the Muslim Filipinos.

The latter allied themselves to the former.

That's my theory.

I also view this theory positively, that one of the reasons the Spanish had an easy time establishing influence towards the animist and the Hindu-Buddhist Filipinos was that they perceived the Muslims to be a greater threat.

The Republic of Pantalleria wrote:Now I don't assume, I understand that the belief of an individual and the entire general population can differ immensely, especially considering that every single individual is different. However, for the purposes of simplification of ideological beliefs, I have classified how those who through the use of two main complexes, generally make decisions pertaining to the importance of what they hold dear. I understand that there are many variations of gray, however, depending on the actions they undertake in order to defend or not defend that belief, will determine whether or not they really truly believe in something, I mean if you worship in secret for example, that would mean that you have a superiority complex in the sense that your belief is so important to you that you're willing to run the risk of getting caught just to practice your belief, and so on and so forth.

One problem is that you are unclear and too liberal in using the term "inferiority complex" and "superiority complex". Can you tell, basing on your definitions how does one get a superiority complex and an inferiority complex? Adherence to a religion is a belief, belief that the religion of your ethnic or cultural group of your nation is invalid is not inferiority complex, nor belief that it is superior over all is not superiority complex, they are nothing but merely religious beliefs.

If you convert to Islam, despite having a so-called "superiority complex" and still secretly practicing Christianity, then, people with the so-called "superiority complex" going by your definitions does not always resist forced mass religious conversion, going against your previous claims.

Well I would say that you get these complexes depending on your actions, I mean your actions are a reflection of what you deem is best (I'm talking about someone who is of sound mind by the way). I mean prioritising food for example means that you view food superior relative to let's say owning a car so will try and commit actions (job) that will ensure that food is always on the table. The complexes that I spoke of are basically related to beliefs and ideals, intangible things that are extremely important in any society.

As for your analogy, if you practice it in secret, doesn't that mean that you haven't converted at all, I mean you may show you're practicing the alien religion, but if in reality you deem it important enough to risk comfort or even your life then I would say you still have a superiority complex, because you're stubborn and that's the whole point of it being called superior in the first place, you deem it important, if it isn't you'll just forget about it and do what the alien tells you to, in body and at heart.

We'll the Hindu-Buddhist Filipinos of the Rajahnates of Butuan and Cebu would have a causus-beli against Muslims mainly because at the Hindu-Buddhist Holy land in India, Muslims were responsible for destroying Nalanda University (A Tantric university which is the oldest University in the world). Nalanda was destroyed by Khtiyar Uddin Muhammad bin Bakhtiyar Khilji for example. Furthermore, the Hindu Majapahit Empire was also destroyed by a coalition of newly formed Sultanates: The Sultanates of Malacca, Ache, Bantam, Yogyakarta, Mataram, Demak and Moluccas.

In addition to the fact that Visayans were enslaved by Moros...

So, Visayans were eager to convert to the Christian Spaniards who defeated the Umayyad Caliphate and both assaulted Muslim Manila and went to war withe the Sultanate of Brunei.

Just a little known fact, according to Francisco de Sande in his written works to the King of Spain...

The Bruneians had enslaved the animist Bisaya of Borneo and the Bisaya of the Visayas islands were related to them. That would also be another causes belli over why the Christianized Visayans attacked Muslim Manila and then attacked the Sultanate of Brunei in the Castille War.

I disagree with your inferiority complex theory at all. The Christianization and Hispanization of the Philippines was mainly the amelioration or an alliance between Non Muslim Filipinos who were oppressed by Muslim Filipinos with the Christian Spaniards who had Rechristianized the parts of Muslim Spain which used to belong to the invading Umayyad Caliphate which had invaded Spain from Arabia.

Just kidding...I'm revising my statements earlier.

Yes, true, the Spanish indeed had saved us from becoming a less desirable state and of course, we owe our existence as a nation and our identity as Filipinos to our former colonial masters.

There would had not been a more effective way to unify a politically and culturally divided archipelago other than religion.

That belongs to Asigna's hometown. Zamboanga is Asia's Latin city. They also speak a daughter-language derived from Mexican-Spanish, the Creole called Chavacano as they are mostly descended from Latin-American soldiers and non Muslim converts to Christianity, the Subanen as well as Visayan migrants. We'll in my eyes, the INC lacks historical authenticity. Whereas the Catholic Church was the original church established by Christ in 33 A.D. when he made Peter the leader of the Apostles, of which Peter became the first Pope, then he died in Rome and ordained a Roman citizen as his successor. That's why all Popes are Bishops of Rome. That's why the Roman Catholic Church is the true, original, holy, catholic and apostolic church.

Whereas the INC is merely an invention of Manalo and not from the original apostles.

Also, I'm from Iloilo by the way and I have observed that Both of our cities fell to new rivals. In the past, Iloilo City used to be the chief city in the Visayas and in the past, Zamboanga city used to be the chief city in Mindanao (There was even a Republic of Zamboanga once) however, both of our cities fell in importance to Davao in Mindanao and Cebu in the Visayas.

I can't wait until we have our revenge against "them" lol.
