My father was deployed to Iraq in 2006-2007. When he was returning to his unit in Baghdad after his mid-tour 2 weeks of leave, the TSA stopped him, despite the fact that he had his uniform on, his orders and military ID and papers in hand, etc. Do you know WHY they stopped him? To SWAB HIS BOOTS FOR GUNPOWDER RESIDUE. That's right. Guess what they found on the boots that he wore on patrols for six months? That's right, traces of explosives. So they had to sit there for an hour just to find someone whose head wasn't up his ass who knew what to do.
Is that enough of an anecdote?
Meh, I've got another one. A few years ago my father was stopped in an airport for almost 2 hours. Why? He was born in a specific East Asian country, and he a couple of years under the age at which the TSA think you're 'too old to be a terrorist'. It's seriously wrong to stop somebody because of where they were born, they can't help it.
