My father was deployed to Iraq in 2006-2007. When he was returning to his unit in Baghdad after his mid-tour 2 weeks of leave, the TSA stopped him, despite the fact that he had his uniform on, his orders and military ID and papers in hand, etc. Do you know WHY they stopped him? To SWAB HIS BOOTS FOR GUNPOWDER RESIDUE. That's right. Guess what they found on the boots that he wore on patrols for six months? That's right, traces of explosives. So they had to sit there for an hour just to find someone whose head wasn't up his ass who knew what to do.

Is that enough of an anecdote?

Meh, I've got another one. A few years ago my father was stopped in an airport for almost 2 hours. Why? He was born in a specific East Asian country, and he a couple of years under the age at which the TSA think you're 'too old to be a terrorist'. It's seriously wrong to stop somebody because of where they were born, they can't help it.

AP is calling 23-year-old Paul Ciancia the shooter, as is KTIV.

There are also reports that he was "very anti-government."

Yet when it happens seemingly randomly in a public place, it's all over the world media. I mean, this incident is getting headlines on most news sides on this side of the Atlantic even as tonight several people will probably be murdered in this part of Europe without anyone pointing a camera at that.

Rare events are more newsworthy then common occurrences, what's to understand?

Great, so we've narrowed him down to having an attitude shared by >90% of the population in some form or another. How helpful.

Well, that is why this shooting won't work as a gun ban one is because one of those unloveable TSA agents died. Not exactly a victim that people feel sorry for given the nature of TSA agents groping people in pat-downs.

Nobody listened.
In sixteenth-century Europe, the disease of virgins, or green sickness, was seen as a common disorder affecting young unmarried girls. Its symptoms included weakness, dietary disturbance, lack of menstruation and most significantly, a change in skin colour. Understanding of the condition turned puberty and virginity into medical problems, and proposed to cure them by bloodletting, diet, exercise, and marriage. - The Disease of Virgins, a book I saw a promo for while trying to learn how babies are made.

So the TSA has confirmed one officer is dead, and another is wounded according to CNN. The suspect is supposedly 23 years old and has addresses listen in CA and NJ. He may have been specifically targeting TSA officers. The gun man was shot three times in the chest, and is in surgery. Witnesses say he asked them if they were TSA, and when they said no, he walked away. I'm gonna try to find sources for all of this, but this is what CNN is saying.

So the previous post identifying him as Paul Ciancia was correct, and he's a resident of LA.

If it was an actual Assault Rifle (which aren't know for being module or easy to carry) , it was probably a illegal import. why did he get an illegal import to shoot up a TSA checkpoint? how did this not get noiticed before security got to him? does he have a connection to a crime syndicate?

so yes, it does matter if it was an Rifle or another type of weapon. either that, or we can just twiddle our thumbs and feel bad about yourself. if we're gonna make a event big, might as well have some meaning revolving around it.

Early reports indicate that it was an AR-15.

Early reports of the Navy Yard shooting indicated it was an AR15 as well. It turned out to be a Remington 870 (which looks nothing like an AR15) and a stolen 9mm Beretta pistol (which also looks nothing like an AR15).
Gun control is like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.

Now I'm picturing the guy as "The Situation" from that South Park episode that I'm told references a tv show about an ostensibly real person.

In case anyone was worried about a seeming dearth of false flag reports in the wake of this shooting, worry no more. And with the anti-government literature found on his person, I suspect we'll be seeing it reach a fever pitch before too long.

My favorite part is that the most 'compelling' evidence is that apparently the CIA takes its false naming clues from The Simpsons and named the shooter Ciancia (CIA n CIA)
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

i'm honestly surprised that security checks don't already exist at the front door. granted, it will become a huge pain in the ass but at least do a cursory weapons check.

I think because forcing people to line up outside for up to two hours would be considered cruel and unusual during the winter months.
