I seriously don't get how 'liberal' became a synonym for something along the lines of 'centrist' or 'social democrat.'

Yup, but they had nothing to do with nationstates. I was a hardcore anarchist when I first got on here, and I really didn't support any separatism but I was aware of race differences. And I still believed in very libertarian social views. Now I'm way more racialist and I have fascist elements of my ideology.

I started out really liberal, then started shifting to the center, then became moderate, then sort of became a heavy capitalist, then tried to start a communist movement, and then finally decided to create my own blend of Future Tech, Communism, and Capitalism.

If by "rubbish" you mean "meeting the bare minimum of internal consistency with its stated aspirations," then I agree. American social liberalism is "rubbish".

When I call American Liberalism rubbish, its not because of ideological differences (even though I disagree with their ideals most of the time) its because Americans twisted the word Liberal into a term to describe a center-left ideology.

When i went on Nation states for the first time i was a Communist, and Im still a Communist now. So no major difference really.

At first, I was just an average center-right liberal conservative who liked America.

After spending a few years on NSG, I've become significantly more right-wing and my love for America has kept growing. I've also become slightly more socially conservative, but I'd attribute that to /pol/ rather than NSG.

I have designed a personal theory during my years here: when you're a moderate and spend time in a place filled with extremists, you tend to go in the exact opposite direction. In this case, NSG's pants-on-head far-leftiness turned moderate center-right Hippo into GOD BLESS AMERICA RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT-Hippo.

Fortunately, I've spent time on some far-right discussion boards as well, which had also had the same effect on me. This means that I will never become a "KILL THE NIGGERS AND GAS THE JEWS, HAPPENING TRAIN SAYS CHOO CHOO CHOO"-type authoritarian neonazi.

No, because usually my extreme views would make me extremely biased.
