When I joined Nationstates I was conservative, mostly because I come from a conservative family (I have many family members who support the Tea Party).

Since joining NationStates I have gradually moved to the left, now considering myself a social democrat.

I came from a conservative family, and when I came here the test actually placed me as more conservative then the Tea-party. After that my views changed like this:
Tea-party conservative > Conservative > Right Libertarian > Extreme Libertarian > Left Libertarian > Democratic Socialist(Don't ask.. Just don't) > Moderate Libertarian
Economic Left/Right: 0.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

An ignorant, bigoted, uneducated, sexist authoritarian leftist into an intelligent, more aware, liberal, antithiest Marxist (Although I'm starting to read more into Market Socialism)

I put this down to the influence of intelligent Leftists, Marxists and other Socialists on NS, and the bigoted, sexist, uneducated, ignorant, anti-gay, violently pro-god right wing economists and religious fundamentalists on NS.

1. Yes.

2. Not to any particular degree.

3. I've drifted to the left - from center-left to left-wing on social issues, and from centrist to center-left on economic issues. I've also moved from being a federalist to a confederalist/borderline secessionist. I've never been "fond" of Canberra - but these days, I'm even less so than I once was.

I've actually become much more conservative... weird though, since most people here tend to become more liberal from what I've noticed.

My views haven't changed, for me it's more that I understand what those views are classified as after three months of NSG. While I may have previously called myself a Liberal, I now describe myself as a Progressive Social Democrat.

I've been posting on NSG for about a decade at this point. I was a moderate Democrat type when I joined, went through a libertarian phase that was just charming, toyed briefly with classic liberalism, and am now a grudgingly socialist misanthrope.

And not a thread to flame others, becuase most of the content is about past or changed views anyways. That is one thing about humanity I have faith in. We change. For better or worse we can change.

So, the questions are: 1, Has your politics changed since being a member of the NS community? 2, If so were other NSers involved? And 3, what were the changes?

Oh absolutely. Without a doubt. Like night and day.

Before NS, I considered myself a liberal, mostly due to the media. I never really agreed with them, thou, but I wasn't truely aware of other shit out there.

If you go way back across my 18+ thousand posts you may be able to find the brief period where I considered myself a socialist.

Were there other NSers involved in my political transition to becoming a communist? Yes, absolutely. I believed most of the common misconceptions, and I was proved wrong. I'll never be able to say exactly who it was, or even when it was. But yes.

I don't know if NS has changed my political views much, I've always been a true pragmatist in politics albeit with a more capitalist and liberal streak that influences my opinion.

The biggest change for me was actually working in a full-time position; I was in college from 2006-2011 but working in the real world really does change your opinions, especially in a field like public accounting.

My political views haven't changed dramatically, but part of my becoming an atheist was reading the logical arguments against the existence of god on NSG. The main reason is that I have an obsessive need to rationalize things, and god can't be rationalized.

So yes, I have changed, even just in the last few months.

I've changed little in terms of political direction, but I have changed just a little bit on some issues. In some cases I go more central on the issue, for others I lean more right. Overall though, I've only become more cemented in what I already believe. Especially with the Religion vs Atheism subject. I get tired of all the "YOUR CRAZY!", "YOU HAVE NO BRAIN!", and "GO KILL YOURSELF AND MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!" The worst part is that both sides say the same thing and its just an insult-throwing contest instead of a real discussion. That's the pattern for most "debates" on here.

If thought from my return to NS last September, no change at all. If dated from my first foray into NS in '03, probably more Republican than the Republican Party...specifically in the economic zones than religious (never was religious, drifted from agnostic to dystheist). Biggest change is that I no longer consider 'flip-flopping' to be as important to my life as whether or not a politician can improve my stake in society.
