Homeschooling receives its share of criticisms and praise. Some say its bad because kids become isolated, and parents can't teach like teachers etc. However some people say it is great because it gives kids better opportunities, and teaches them family values.

So do you think homeschooling is a good or bad thing? I personally don't like it, a regular education would be much better, but I still don't know whether or not Im comfortable with taking away the rights of a parent to teach their kids.

Anyways what do you guys think?

I think people should understand what homeschooling is and how it can be worked correctly before we start saying if it is good or bad.

Here's a better idea: get rid of public schools and make attendance voluntary. It shall drive the prices down and allow more diversified education opportunity.

You can't improve the economy by dropping education, education continually needs to be improved if we want to raise our GDP.

Yeah, I'm young too, and I have a lot of fun too. It also doesn't hurt to learn these sorts of life lessons early. There's a reason why I stopped making the assumption that I'm not the smartest person in the room, though.

1. By doing that, I realized I can actually learn from other people. That's surprisingly nice.
2. It's a whole lot more fun to stop separating yourself from everyone else. I know a lot of rednecks that I could school on any number of matters in any number of subjects. It's also a lot more fun to not do that though.

With that tangent finished (and on topic), I see no reason why homeschooling should be illegal, and I do not think there should be a set government curriculum, although there should definitely be minimum requirements on aptitude at certain major points in a student's career.

It depends on how exactly we choose to define the word "libertarian" and the phrase "socially conservative". If we take socially conservative to, for example, mean someone who holds conservative and traditionalist views on society but we do not assume that this person wants to implement these views via public policy they are not mutually exclusive.
