We're already transhumans. Eye glasses, hearing aids, pacemakers, cochlear implants, hip replacements the list goes on and on.

Meme's aside, yep. I'm greatly in favor of mechanical transhumanism, Not so hot on genetic transhumanism but... it's a step forward.

Psh, I'd say I've got a pretty close to symbiotic relationship with my phone already. My memory and organization are hardly fantastic, and it really helps with that. Plus, snake.

Gotta love how he deleted that within a couple of seconds after maybe realizing he'd said something grossly offensive and unintelligent. Bless ya, Cosara.

Really having to restrain myself not to tear into Cosara a bit more here. Maybe there should be a thread for it, since it seems to happen in every thread he posts in. Anyhow. Transhumanism's pretty cool. Robocop and stuff. Woo!

After reading books like Altered Carbon, Software, and Mindscan, I definitely have reservations about it. While transplants, implants, and prosthesis are inarguably beneficial to those who are already impaired, we should be careful not to replace what already works.

I am not a fan of transhumanism; the very thought of it makes me sick and causes irritation with leads to anger. It is threat to the very survival of the species, and as such should be killed in its infancy, along with AI.

Science fiction is rarely accurate. It'd be ridiculous to give up nigh immortality in the name of nature.

Really? Even implants that could help disabled people walk/see/etc? That just seems selfish.

Good and necessary. I hope to survive for the advent of cyborgs and mind uploading, and hopefully I will survive long enough for anti-aging technlogy so I can live as long as I want.

I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

You would only become immortal in-so-far as market forces would allow your own autonomy. Coincidentally, Market Forces is another title of a Richard K. Morgan novel.
