Yeah well we're not going to just let civilians go around wherever the please with a gun unless they have some sort of license to be doing that. Sixteen shootings happened in 2012 in the US, at least 88 people died from them. That's a lot of people.

Who did the shootings? Were they who did them sane for doing that? I don't think so.

Every time I see this reasoning, I feel the urge to emphasize that perhaps we should ban people instead. That's not an option, so perhaps regulating the availability tool used by people to cause a chain of events possibly leading to injury or death would be a good idea?

Oh, that old mantra. You see, guns in fact do kill people as do humans. One causes it, the other finishes the job. Guns do kill people, as in they are the thing, the object (well more the bullet and resulting blood loss, but you get the idea) that killed them. Now, this doesn't excuse the person as they did kill them as well, mainly by using an object in a lethal manner, thus resulting in a person's death.

Every law takes away a bit of freedom. Unless you advocate total lawlessness, then safety regulations, as long as they are fair and reasonable, should not be a problem.

Point being that, while I am a moderate on gun control (I clicked "yes" on the poll, by the way), I dislike the pollyanna-ish claims that "guns have never hurt anyone". Those do not help anyone.
