Some gun control advocates believe that in addition to assault weapons handguns should also be prohibited from civilian ownership. Do you believe that civilians shouldn't be allowed to own handguns or do you think that civilians should be allowed to own them? I think that civilians should be allowed to own handguns because unlike assault weapons there are legitimate uses for handguns. They be used for sports shooting and more importantly they can be used for home defense. An assault weapon is overkill for home defense while a handgun is a practical and effective option. After all you can't just rely on the police since they can take 5-10 minutes to show up. Of course as with all firearms I feel that everyone purchasing a firearm should have a criminal background check done on them and a psychological exam. What do you think?

As for government tyranny, I firmly believe the Progressive movement in the US as it stands is a movement bent on changing our government away from one that protects our rights and into one that forces us all to live and act as liberals would have us : dependent and eventually enslaved. For this reason and due to the generally negative consequences of their proposed laws, as well as the lack of any manner of truth any time Nancy Pelosi hows her face on my televison, I have adopted a Nancy Reagan style policy of "just say no."
No, I will not register. No, 15 rounds is not too many for me to defend myself. No, semi-automatic weapons are not "assault weapons" no matter how scary/cool they look or how many rounds they may carry in their magazine.

I meant that banning magazines that hold more than x amount of rounds doesn't work to reduce gun-spree fatalities, because you can buy three 10 round mags instead of that single 30 round mag. For example.
