How is racist to point out that since Rhodesia became Zimbabwe the entire place has gone to shit?

Because it was done in such a way that it implied that it's gone to shit because the natives aren't intelligent?

There was a need for land reform.
It should not have been accomplished in the manner it was attempted.
Taxes on large holdings, estate tax and optional government buy backs.

Obviously the people in charge in Zimbabwe at the moment are complete nincompoops. But claiming that it will never be prosperous because the "intelligent Europeans" left implies they are all unintelligent and they need those big strong clever whites to help them do anything.

Anyway, sub-Saharan Africa sucks.

This might make things slightly better, but Zimbabwe still sucks and is likely to suck considerably for the foreseeable future.

What's another sad note is that Bob Mugabe staged the farm takeovers only after he saw on CNN that white farm owners tended to support his political opponents.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

No, that was my smartass response to "Look at this horrible thing" type news that we get on NSG. In other words, I didn't find the topic particularly revelatory, because it serves no purpose beyond saying "Hey, Mugabe's a bastard", something we don't need an NSG topic to know about. There's nothing to discuss here.

Actually, it started in '97 when a few greedy old farts from the bush war days attacked him at a ZANU-PF rally for stopping short of "economic liberation". If he was to be doubly renowned as the great Marxian hero of Africa he believed he was, it was necessary to strike both a political and an economic blow against evil imperialists. Furthermore, he was only willing to endorse the voluntary redistribution of land as long as the UK financed it. But nobody wanted to keep feeding money into Bob's overseas bank accounts when he was doing absolutely nothing with the fertile tracts he'd already obtained from willing sellers.

Lastly, this zot needed a scapegoat to direct attention from his own failures. Healthcare and education standards crumbling, no free and fair elections, trivial shit like that. The fact that white Zimbos like Roy Bennet were courting the opposition was just icing on the cake.

True, true. He made promises to his terrorist followers for land, and eventually they'd turn on him if he did nothing. Even though he wanted successful white farmers to remain (at least at first).

Well, to be fair, NSG dictates the OP make his opinion clear when he takes the initiative. I do think Mugabe's a jolly fine bastard, so I stated that in so many words while recounting the history of Zim's land reform for the uneducated sods we always hanging around NSG's cobwebbed dungeons.

Furthermore, the fact that Mugabe's relenting on the farms is worth noting, hey?
