US weighing military options if Syria uses WMD

Sounds like the sort of talk that got us into Iraq. Not that I anticipate the same situation, but it just reminds of me of it.

Fortunately, the world seems to be on the same page with this. Turkey, Israel and Jordan are all adamant about securing these chemical weapons if they're moved. I watched an interview of Jordan's defense minister and came away very impressed. The guy seems pretty committed to stabilizing Syria and fighting terrorism.

However, Jordan won't let Israel strike at the chemical depots since Syria thought it was a good idea to put a few near the Syria-Jordan border. Jordan has to look out for its own people and defenses as well despite the fact Israel is willing to bomb the depots.

Yes, the US and a couple others said this in the summer as well. I doubt Syria would use them though.

One might think the US get the lesson from Moqtada al-Sadr's milicia in Iraq. The FSA is pretty much the same thing, you don't know who you're dealing with. A brutal secular regime is still better than an islamist brutal regime.

Bombing the depots won't do shit. They'll contaminate the area, and depending on what kind of weapons they are can very easily spread into Jordan and its major population centers. Not to mention the fact that bombings are never 100% perfect, any surviving weapons will be moved to another location immediately, if not recovered by not-so-favourable entities for use across the world or sale to the black market.
