Care to provide a source?
My source is history itself.
To wit: One can argue that, for better or for worse, Christianity has shaped modern civilization.
The Bible talks A LOT about homosexuality. Christ himself doesn't, mind you, but the Bible does. Without something to demonize, the bible becomes less effective.
Cleopatra is believed to be bisexual or possibly pansexual. Without Cleopatra's sexual nature, the entire course of ancient history would have drastically changed.
Sappho of Lesbos, yes that's a real person, was a lesbian and was a massive contributor to Greek literature.
Homosexuality was practiced often in Rome and Japan, to economic and social success. Thus there societies would suffer without.
Lawrence of Arabia is believed to be homosexual, and that the incompatibility with this was his reason for volunteering for duty in a region where he did not believe he would be persecuted. We may have well lost WWI without Lawrence of Arabia.
With different history comes a different present.
Just another addendum...... the bible wouldn't use such strong language if it didn't believe homosexuality was a threat to the people (these people of course being Ancient Israelites) meaning homosexuality was around and it was scary (to them)....... but for some reason pedophilia wasn't.
