Republican Newsletter Calls For "Armed Revolution"

Postby Yumyumsuppertime » Mon Aug 20, 2012 12:32 pm

...if President Obama is re-elected.

Here's the relevant text as reported by PoliticsUSA:

President Obama, is a “political socialist ideologue unlike anything world history has ever witnessed or recognized,” and that the only option is “armed revolution should we fail with the power of the vote in November:” If one is confused as to what Republicans consider is a “political socialist ideologue,” the newsletter claims President Obama “shuns biblical praise, handicaps economic ability, disrespects the honor of earned military might,” and that under Obama, “the government is out of control, and this opportunity, must not be forsaken for we shall not have any coarse (sic) but armed revolution.”

To be fair them, they are right that he is unlike every other political socialist ideologue the world has ever witnessed. Because he isn't one

So, they are using the Bible in defence of their revolt? Perhaps I should bring out my own verses.

The Apostle Paul, in the Book of Romans, Chapter 13, verses 1-7, wrote:Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God's servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

How many people do you know who are against gay marriage and wearing two different types of clothing material?

For what? For reporting what the newsletter said?

At any rate, I should add a disclaimer: This is a single article written by a single member of the Greene County, VA GOP, and likely does not represent the views of the Republican Party as a whole. However, the fact that he hasn't been called out on it yet is very telling.

this sort of thing reminds me of tim mcveigh (the okcity federal building bomber)

he (a devotee of the turner diaries) thought that his act of terrorism would ignite a rightist rebellion in the united states. instead it destroyed the militia movement for more than a decade.

in the same way if this asshole and his idiot friends got out their guns and tried to take over their local city hall (or whereever they would start) their supposed comrades would recoil in horror and support the government.
whatever

I have noticed that. However, as a Christian, I try not to cherry pick anything out of that book, inspired by God.

1. There is precedence in the New Testament for opposing homosexual marriage.
2. Jesus fulfills the Law. We no longer need to follow Old Testament laws.

I believe that this would come under the heading of "treason". The "out of control" government could have the publishers and contributors to that newsletter arrested for calling for the armed overthrow of the government.

My apologies then, I'm not too familiar with the Bible as I haven't read it quite a few years. That said I live in the south, the Christians we have tend to be of a different breed than elsewhere it seems. They change the religion to fit their lives, rather than changing their lives to fit the religion.
