I agree with this. 16oz of soda is more than enough. People should wake up, you shouldn't be drinking soda anyway. Too much sugar is terrible for you. He's trying to get people to be more conscious of what they put in their body. And the neglectful parents who let their children drink all the soda they want, no wonder America is so fat! These laws should be enacted everywhere. I haven't had soda in years and I dont miss it. I was drinking a 2 liter bottle of pepsi a day. I'm healthier now than I have ever been.

You are free to chug as many 2 liter colas as you like. You just can't buy them in restaurants, delis, movie theater and sports arenas.

Let's not get all alarmist.

But the venues mentioned won't let me bring my two liter bottles inside. On the other hand, they haven't banned beer .... .... .... yet.

Both of you are wrong.

I believe the correct term would be NANNY CITY, and we'd have city's rights folks start calling the Feds to do shit.

So what's the equivalent of a European liberal?

And does this mean American liberalism is authoritarian in nature?

Well diet soda is exempt, from reading the second article through, so I don't see why I couldn't. McDonalds isn't going to make sure I fill myself a diet.

I'm happy for you. I drink water, coffee, tea and juice in preference to sodas. I still wouldn't want someone telling me that I had to. Especially some amorphous "government". I agree that sodas are unhealthy, but I also think that governments who put themselves in the business of making these decisions for me are even more unhealthy.

I wish government would get out of our faces. Banning large drinks isn't going to stop obesity. People CHOOSE to lose weight, they aren't forced to by the government. The government should just stay out of everybody's business and go spend it on something more productive. It impedes our rights, and it's a disgrace and embarassment to the United States.

There is none, really. Maybe the Greens? Both the Democrats and the Republicans are relatively center-right/conservative, with the Democrats being closer to the center (leaning left on some issues). But it's the nature of progressivism to dictate what people should and shouldn't do. I wouldn't associate it with authoritarianism, it does share some traits (though the same could be said of anything aside from anarchy).

It's in the best interest for the people. I know there are a lot of stubborn people out there and think that this infringes on their personal freedoms but there's no limit to how much you can buy now is there?? Just a smaller portion. They're not telling you what you can consume, so your argument is invalid. He just wants people to be healthier.
