What surprises me most is that it would be a ban and not just another tax.

See, the state of NY wants to add huge taxes to these drinks, in the name of public morality, but an outright ban would kill that golden governmental goose.

This part seems to have been missed by most:
in restaurants, delis, movie theatres and sports arenas.

You are free to chug as many 2 liter colas as you like. You just can't buy them in restaurants, delis, movie theater and sports arenas.

Let's not get all alarmist.

Well, there's a straw. See, using a series of muscles, I change the air pressure in my Esophagus after sealing the straw with my lips. This change in pressure creates suction, pulling the liquid through the straw and into my mouth. From there, I toggle the valve in the throat which determines whether the substance in question heads to the bronchial tube or the digestive tract.

Indeed so, but theres still the home market and sizes less than 16 ounces.

I don't have any(I don't think theres anythign wrong with pop in the first place, within moderation). Its not a 'high sugar drink', but it is pop and the excerpts I read didn't clarify the issue.
