The First Mother's Day Thread

Postby Christmahanikwanzikah » Fri May 01, 2009 1:55 pm

The date varies by nation, but in the US, it's due in a almost a week, and I'm sure there are some of us that haven't got a damn clue on what to do. SO!

- What have you/will you/are planning to do for your mum?

- If you still haven't celebrated Mother's Day, do you have any clue on what you're going to do?

- Mother's - What in Cthulu's name do you want?!?

No idea, but I have an awfully long time to prepare for it.

I'm like you Chumblywumbly - stuck at the point of...get something!

Asking my mom what she'd like is futile.

I think we may end up simply taking her out some place nice to eat.

This would be problematic for me, but since my mother has agreed to not mess in my career choices, I've just got to figure out what to do. I'm in a different city than she is, so I won't see her till one week after Mother's Day, but we're making plans for that next weekend.

This will be my first Mother's Day. I'm not saying anything - he is 19 - but he and his girlfriend made me a lovely breakfast for my birthday... :D

my wife wrote happy mothers day with a felt pen on a piece of paper and folded it into a card, so i copied some poetry on to it and made some pictures of a heart and little mice (the poetry was that kindergarten thing about little mice)

mom loved it.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

I've been at work all day, so I'm doing the whole mom's day thing tomorow. I'm getting her a card and maybe something else and cooking her dinner.

I surprised my mother with a visit home. She didn't recognise me. I've only been away again for 3 weeks.

Our exchange went something like this:

Me: *knocks on front door*
Mum: *Answers* *Stares at me for about 10 seconds*
Me: *staring back waiting for penny to drop*
Mum: Excuse me, I'm sorry, who are you looking for?
Me: *dumbstruck* Um, it's me, Mum.
Mum: *much crying*
When you grow up, your heart dies.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of son of a b*tch or another.

What's worse is that we chat on skype video every night or thereabouts. No excuse. I was mortified.

Does she have some kind of degenerative memory loss?

No she was doped up on painkillers for a migraine and I was wearing my winter hat and oversized sunnies.
