I adore the arrogance of telling a stadium you've just silenced to calm down.

Oh, Cristiano, won't you ever come back to United?

Don't know, don't care.

(Although if really pushed then yes - Barca will know that the CL is now the only thing they can win this season. All the better with the possibility of playing Real - "Champions of Spain? We're champions of Europe! etc". And they're not going to lose three in a row. They'll win 3-0)

I shall have massive lols if Barça loses both the Spanish and European championships to Real. I like them, but the possibility is much to hilarious to not amuse me.

I find it impossible to care about Wolves since they sacked McCarthy. Hopefully he can pop back into management as soon as possible.

Feel sorry for Terry Connor, mind. He got chucked in the deep end in a difficult job for his first go at management and reluctantly took on the challenge. He's not a manager, but he still stepped up and did his best. That's all you can ask for.

On the other hand - can you imagine a job with less pressure? In a way it's the perfect first job - anything he does well gets credited to him, but he gets a free pass for Wolves continuing to play at about a mid-level Championship level that are in way above their heads. You really can't lose - no matter how many losses his club picks up. Next season, if he stays on, will be a totally different story, though.

Yeah they've been a bit of a surprise for me. Although in this case they really were helped by just how confused and disorganized the NYRB defense looked all the time. Backe's gotta be feeling the heat.

I don't know if its just a local thing, since I live in the Midlands and obviously this is where most Wolves fans are... but I've heard a lot of -- what I feel is a bit unfair -- criticism of the guy. The general consensus among Wolves fans I know seems to be "he's not up to the job". Its a bit like Kev Mac taking over at Villa briefly but worse because of the relegation. Kev Mac's stint at the helm at Villa seemed to rule him out of any shot at the job -- because it was implied that he wasn't good enough, though I'd dispute that -- and similarly, Terry Connor will probably be overlooked for management positions because of his perceived "failure" at Wolves.

I doubt he'll get the job on a permanent basis. Which is a shame. He seems to have a decent rapport with the players, and I could swear when he did the post-match interview on MotD last night he was close to tears. This is a man who has clearly been giving it everything he's got, and I think the team's relegation is no reflection on his management ability (or lack thereof, as it may be).

Then again, I might be biased because he's black and I want to see more than a 2% representation.

To be honest, I don't think there is any bias involved at all there. I feel that he's been unlucky to be thrown into a job where the team seem to be demoralised and look like they go onto the pitch preparing for the worst each game. If they were slightly more optimistic (lol, I can't talk, being a City fan and all), I think they'd actually perform slightly better as they'd probably be more motivated. Obviously the manager has to play a part in this, but with these players it seems to be almost like nothing he did would work, as soon as they concede, the heads go down.

He was just a part of the coaching staff before he became manager, which I think is ideal for most managers - as you said - it means that he has a decent relationship with the players. It also means that he obviously knows something about football, as he wouldn't have been hired to coach professional players if he didn't (lol, duh). He obviously isn't terrible, I think with players that have a slightly better attitude, he'd do better. I don't know, to be fair, I'm probably not the best person to ask about Wolves though haha.

Really hoped that Barcelona would beat Chelsea.

Now, I'd really like Chelsea to lose the final, only so Newcastle can actually play Champions League football next season.

Its gonna be Real. Mourinho will deny Chelsea the trophy he needed to win during his tenure to avoid the sack. I just know it.
