I'm an unmarried nonvirgin. I don't really see any point in waiting until marriage. It's kind of odd people seem to think that waiting until marriage will make their first time special. I waited until I had a pretty deep emotional connection with someone. I don't see why I need to go through a legal proceeding first.

Plus it probably leads to cheating. I'm not one of those people who thinks monogamy is impossible, but I do find it hard to believe that people wouldn't end up straying if they'd only ever slept with one person and they'd waited until they were in their twenties.

Well, you know, there can be circumstances. It's not like back in the olden times, where people actually checked and made sure you were banging.

"Circumstances" such as "being gay and trying to hide it," or "unable to perform," or "partner has a horrific deformity you didn't know about because you waited until marriage." Plus, given that marriage is just a legal thing, it wouldn't surprise me if people occasionally get married for reasons entirely unrelated to sex or love.

I disagree on that one. I think if you waited to have sex until you were married because you felt pressured to wait, that pressure might lead you to be resentful later and more likely to cheat as a result, but I suspect the same would be true of someone who was pressured NOT to wait. I think the happiest relationships are likely to be those between people who chose of their own free will what path they wanted to take. I have friends at nearly every point along that spectrum, from people who happily engage in orgies with strangers to people who did not have their first kiss until their wedding day, and what has universally seemed to be the common factor in whether their relationships are happy and stable ones is not whether they made any one particular choice but whether they made that choice freely and gladly.
