Why does it seem everyone hates Republicans

Postby Euronion » Fri May 20, 2011 12:20 am

I don't understand why people hate Republicans so much, the majority of people that I have inquired to have no idea what Republican ideals are, they say they side for the democrats because all Republicans are evil, I mean I can understand not liking them becuase of sandals but the Democratic party have been the center of equal a scandel yet, they seem to be above public opinion and I find almost no one that disagrees with them, I understand each sides beliefs and policies and have found that I am a conservative, and no I am not rich, I am simply asking why do so many people hate republicans including the mainstream media, yet the democrats are almost completely ignored, just as everyone is critical about FOX news yet no one criticizes the other mainstream media for being biased towards the opposite side, why is this? and please make a logical arguement

I do not hate them but I dislike them a bit because the seem very authoritarian, but I dislike the Democrats even more again. I like the Libertarians.

Well, they're the transparent advocates of neoliberalist capitalist tyranny. As opposed to the slightly less transparent Democrats.

Does hate really have to be an either/or thing here?

In b4 lock...

Seriously, I'm a Republican... but most people that hate the GOP dislike their stand on social issues, militarism, or economic policy. to me that's what it seems.

That's gotta be one of the worst polls I've ever seen. Those three options cover only a miniscule segment of the possible gamut of opinions.

Republican and Democrats are all the same in that they want to impose their will onto others.

Because of that, I hate them both.

I dislike conservatism as an ideology. Especially social conservatism, but also their economic approach. The basic ideas of (and you have to think being American media buzzwords, and the actual academic meanings of the terms) conservatism is the preservation of tradition and status quo.

Or in sociological terms, there is structural functionalism, and conflict theory, and I lean more towards conflict theory. That it is the inequality and injustices and the fixing of them, either by the ballot or by force, is what drives society forward. Progress needs to be made, which is why the word progressive so simply describes my ideology.

The basic idea of a conservative vs. a liberal is someone who wants to keep things the way things are, because society and the country are holding together well enough in their eyes, and someone who wants to take the risks to make a huge change that might be much better for us in the long run.

In short, I dislike conservatism because it's the refusal to dream of something better. Sure, a conservative will say the opposite. But I don't mean dreaming of a world where going into business is even easier and you can make even more money, I mean dreaming of a whole different constitution, a whole new set of human rights, a very, very different, sustainable society that is on our horizon.

Because: People think they know better than those silly republicans in charge of massive corporations and other companies, who couldn't possibly know what they're doing despite being in charge of massive operations daily.

Oh that doesn't make sense, now does it?

Everyone hates the Republicans because the vast majority of people on the internet are American style liberals (left-wing,atheist,environmentalist etc.).

I have no opinion about either.

I did want to say that I do rag on FOX, because of that O'Reilly moron. A friend of mine pointed out to me that he did a segment on Amsterdam (I'm Dutch, for the record) and went on and on about what a rat trap it is with all the whores, drugs and thievery. Yes, that pisses me off, because Amsterdam can't be much worse than New York or Los Angeles.

There is no such thing as Republican ideals. The party is a mismatch of mutually exclusive and more often than not diametrically opposed groups, of which most hold beliefs and values I not only don't share but do not see as legitimate to be advocated or implemented by government.

Mind you, the same holds in general for the Democrats.

I agree with the stupidity that is the Fox talking heads team as well as most of the other people in the media. Really they are our protection from everything; they're supposed to let the public know when the government or some business is doing something they shouldn't be doing so we (the people) can take action. They're supposed to be alerting us to what is and isn't safe. But it's gotten to the point where politics runs so deep in the media that you can't really trust what they say anymore. Some say the government can collapse any day. Some say things are getting better everyday. They're all owned by some big corporation. It's really sad, but to me it's the media I've grown to dislike and distrust.

As far as Republicans go, I think people see them as cold-hearted because they seem to be anti social programs (like welfare). And many liberals don't like the whole pro-life thing. I'm neither a Republican nor a democrat. I see things from both sides I like and things I don't like. I don't think Republicans are generally cold-hearted; I think they are just advocates for financial responsibility and accountability from individuals and government. And I agree with the pro-life stance. But Republicans argue that cutting taxes for the rich will create jobs because the rich will then reinvest in the economy and create jobs by hiring people and investing more in their business. That's true in theory, but I'd like to see the actual data that millionares that own businesses actually do hire more people when they get tax breaks. And if they do, do the taxes generated from the new jobs equal the amount lost from the tax breaks or are the only jobs being created part time minimum wage workers that won't be paying taxes anyways?

Don't know about hate, but many enjoy the ease of mocking their many vocal whackjobs. That people follow loons like Coulter, O'Reilly, Beck, Stein, Palin and lap up the irrational nonsense they spew is a wonder for many of us living outside the U.S. The Obama birther nonsense, young earth creationsism and Conservapedia are a source of hilarity. Now I know there are many rational Republicans but the clowns are hogging the spotlight from where I sit at least.

Republicans > Democrats
Republicans = conservative/freedom
Democrats = Statist
Although Republicans are more radically Christian and therefore retarded, there economic votes are better. Democrats are, in my opinion, evil and are, evidently, ruining the nation. I like Ron Paul because he's inspiring.

I'm not equating them. I'm saying they are more conservative and are also kind of more for individual freedom and my Libertarian views. I don't like that they want to get rid of the Education Minister and bring in new textbooks that support Creationism though. I hate each political party equally though. Like I said, Anarchy all the way.
