Seriously? I think Israel would accept peace, if anyone were interested in it. Right now, the Arabs/Palestinians are waiting for the world to legitimize their blood lust. You can't have peace when the other side won't accept that you've been there for 60 years and are a legitimate state.

He's the main reason why Palestine has a decent-ish chance of peace right now, and was only appointed after Hamas were defenestrated from government by Mahmoud Abbas- the President- who was well within his rights as President to do so.

The Palestinians have been there a lot longer than sixty years.

All sides, I guess, though...

The religious right on both sides.

The majority of Israelis seek compromise, though the Ultra-Orthodox Ultra-Zionist minority is over-represented in the Knesset. I don't know as much about the government in Palestine, so I can't make a judgement.

Except it wasn't, under their system the outgoing Prime Minister sits until selection of a new one by their legislature. The basic issue they are at is that Abbas appointed someone himself, which he isn't allowed to do.
Such heroic nonsense!

PNA Constitution, Chapter Three:

ARTICLE 45
The President of the National Authority shall select the Prime Minister, and task him to form his government. The President shall have the right to remove him, and to accept his resignation, as well as ask him to invite the Council of Members to convene.

So he can, and has. The matter more in question is whether the PLC has (or has been able to given the circumstances) passed a vote of confidence in Fayyad's Cabinets- but I'd assume, given how quick Fayyad was to sack and reform his Cabinet earlier this year, that this either has been achieved, the PLC has been bypassed legally, or they're flagrantly breaching the Constitution.

Both parties. No matter what the politicians may say, peace will not come to the middle east until the arab and israeli people are ready for it.

Nice selective sighting there. They are talking about the issue relevant to Article 79-4. There's no question that the president may select a PM, it's the issue that that selection is only applicable to presentation and approval of the legislature. The President did not do that. In fact, lacking the confidence vote, the President should dismiss his appointee and select another.
Such heroic nonsense!
