Mine seem to swing from ecstatic to not bothered, to apoplectic, to depressive.
Currently in my depressive phase.

Mine are always triggered. I'd almost consider myself lucky for not having them randomly appear. How bad are they for you?

I seem to be more miserable when it's overcast like today was. Might be an undiagnosed SAD. Might be an undiagnosed a lot of things, come to think of it.

Very infrequently usally last a whole day of 30 mins ecscatic and then an hour or so lethargic, followed by depressed then every other emotion under the sun. Strangley my increased consumption of drugs and alcohol over the past few months seem to have stopped them. Tis quite good.

You don't need me to answer this one. I'm a miserable snarkily cynical pessimist infuriated by my own failings even more than I am about other people's. But for some reason there are inexplicable occasions where I'm darting around everywhere, the life and soul of the party, awed at the wonder of the world.

Just wish I could turn it on and off at will. The two different sides tend to come out only when the other is appropriate to the situation...

Mine occur because of disorders, but usually involve someone or something (usually something I hold dear, like music) invoking it. And with the hormones I'm going to get with this baby, shit might hit the fan. And then explode.

On topic, I have slight daily moodswings. At night (or sometimes when I'm on my own) I can get really quite depressive, but during the day I can be quite loud and jovial.

It's mainly due to tiredness and proximity to others. I'm a sociable introvert...
