The stuff that came out of the depression boggles the mind; the Golden Gate, Hoover Dam, Empire State Building. All held the titles as "largest" for many years. The U.S. basically said fuck the depression and got to work on our infrastructure.
Hell the Empire State Building was built in little over one year. Think about it. Only 13 months. I've seen supermarkets under construction longer than the ESB was.
I was built in a couple of months. New Yorkers are good at getting things done in a hurry.
