Not really. Given that it's used in it's own right rather than in contrast to NI.

Except it's not. The term used 99 times out of 100 is "Ireland". The hundredth time is "the Republic".

You are literally the first person I have heard using it at all.

We can messure the genetic-ethnic heritage we receive from our ancestors. Thus you can enherit the culture that the mix brings to you. So it can be messured somewhat, to a point.

No, we can't.

How are we going to decide whether a person is "French" or "Turkish?" How many generations need to pass without a French or Turkish ancestor before they aren't considered French or Turkish anymore?

What if someone Irish immigrates to Sweden? How many generations need to pass (if kids with only "Irish" people were made) before they're considered Swedish? Or would they not be considered Swedish?

I mean, there were two major waves of migration into Europe of whom the majority of Europeans today are descendants of. One from Russia, and another going up from Turkey and the Balkans. And even then, the people who first went to Russia and Turkey were from Africa. And before we were humans, we were a variety of other species.

Well. It seems as though an argument about Ireland has already started simmering. Splendid. If the argument is about the legitimacy of the term 'Southern Ireland', then I have to say I've heard that expression before plenty of times. It's purely a relative term, to distinguish the Republic from the North.

I'm from Northern Ireland myself, I'm descended from Scottish Presbyterian planters who settled in Ulster during the 16th century (the Americans among you call us 'Scots-Irish').

As for my family, specifically, a lot of them left Ireland in the mid-19th Century and settled in around the Georgia/Kentucky area and ended up fighting for the Confederacy. A couple went to Pennsylvania, no idea what happened to them.

The ones who stayed here were dockers. My Grandfather worked at the shipyards in Larne, and his father was involved in getting the guns off the ships there during the UVF gun-running in 1913.

80% Lithuanian
20% Polish
(above are approximate numbers)

From what I heard from my grandparents' stories, my ancestors belonged to a noble family of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and were patriotic supporters of the end of the clashes between barons. Still, Russia/Sweden/Austria came in and took away their titles of nobility, so here we are now.

I think it's more common with wealthier Filipinos, who probably have better Internet access, can afford to move to developed countries, etc. Most, if not all, Filipinos I've met have Chinese ancestry, but apparently they're a minority in the Philippines.

My fathers side of the family hails from Eastern Europe, Ukraine to be exact. My mothers die of the family are also from Eastern Europe, though they are ethnic jews and I can trace my lineage back directly to Mosses through them.

Culturally, I speak Russian with my immigrant family, participate in Jewish religious rituals, and eat unappetizing foods.

The purity of our race...

What do you mean by that?

How is any race 'pure?' What do you mean by 'race?'

The Philippines has always been heavily mixed since Austronesian migrants mixed with the indigenous "Negrito" peoples.
