It's very sad that we have come to this stage where preschools have become "gender neutral". Why? Wasn't it always a girl's dream to be a princess or a boy's dream to be a race car driver? What's so bad about that?

Preschoolers don't have the same concept of "democracy" and "equality" as we do. There's no more value in a boy playing cars than there is a girl playing with a doll. They don't see it the same way as "adults" do.

And what will happen to these children later in life when they experience inequality and, in some cases, discrimmination? How will they handle those situations?

No. My dream was to be an astronaut. But then I realized nasa was all politics and getting picked as an astronaut was more about who you know and how you can be sold to the media.

Anyway, the argument that one should discriminate against children so that they are more accepting of being discriminated against when they are older (if that's the argument you are making) does not really compute to me.

Incidentally, you can't just introduce gender-neutral pronouns (useful as they sometimes be). That will never work. Personal pronouns are part of the structure of a language; you can't just introduce new pronouns, any more than you could introduce a new tense or number.

Baking works great though. You have to walk them through it and take the food out of the oven when it's done, but kids can mix ingredients, grease pans, etc. and I thought it was a lot of fun when I was a kid.

1. Nothing wrong with having those dreams. Lots wrong with telling kids what they are allowed to dream.

2. You obviously aren't around a lot of little kids if you think they don't have a concept of democracy and equality.

3. Roughly 1/3 of women in the U.S. will be the victims of sexual assault at some time in their lives. That doesn't mean they should be sexually assaulted in childhood so they 'get used to it'.

Sounds kind of silly. Then again, things which we take for granted were once seen that way. I would have loved being a student there for the fact that I was always bullied for taking no interest in fist fights, guns and football; not to mention that from an early age, I questioned what benefit would enforcing these roles have on society. For me, in schools like mine, people have been turned into passive robots who do what the media wants and not what they want deep down. Anyone who steps slightly out of this trend is almost penalised by peers and made to feel like they're wrong... it happens to me all the time.
Could the preschool be highlighting our future? If so, I can't wait for the future.

So much so that I am thankful that I was a child back in my day, rather than now. Political correctness is a blight to any decent society.
