The thread where it all went down in 2011 was moved to the locker to protect the user's privacy. Basically what had happened was a well-loved member of the community at the time posted what was suspected to be a suicide note. Close friends from Nationstates were able to coordinate with one another and along with site staff as well as the US consulate in Mexico to help his IRL friends and family to track him down before he could follow through. The user has since left the site due to personal troubles, I can only hope wherever he is now that he's doing better.

I remember one of the founders of an ancient and at the time longest-running RP thread in the NS forum passed away unexpectedly several years ago, leaving his fiance devastated. No idea what happened to Der Fuhrer Dyszel after she CTE'd almost a decade ago, unfortunately.

You even allowed a DOS poster to return in order to help with it all. It was just amazing to see how everyone mobilized to help them. A brilliant spot on NSG history.

That's it. Although I seem to remember it happening in mid-to-late June rather than early July. If you dig through that thread enough you can find where I attempted to track down the offender.

Of course, it's one thing which is actually noteworthy for wikipedia.

The rest, not so much. As much as we miss beloved posters, it would not be significant enough to be worth a mention on wikipedia. NS "scandals", NS mod actions, etc. are pretty much only relevant on NS itself.
