I'm not surprised that you wouldn't know, though, since trans people are among the only ones who are actually affected by that policy on a regular basis. A cis person can change their name to whatever they want without issue, usually; however, Facebook follows up on reports when a lot of people report a single thing, so if a hundred people report a trans person's name as "not their real name" because they want to be transphobic pieces of shit, then Facebook will ask for ID.

Well, basically seems to be:
1. We won't discriminate.
2. Tell us what you're going to do so we can do admin and whatever, to ensure all the staff and students are on the same page, and so we can give you extra support.
3. Explanatory information for the uninitiated about transgender people, and associated laws.

I'd say that is pretty damn insecure, and a real risk to transgender people's, or in fact, any person's security and identification.

Sure, they might say they encrypt communications, but the encryption is at their end, it's definitely not on your end, and if you use one of the big email providers you're not guaranteed breaches of security won't happen.

This is a real concern, and I wasn't aware of the policy because it is so obscure nobody notices. Most of us go along years using the same account and changing names for privacy reasons. This makes it impossible to hide ourselves from other people. Also, when it comes to transgender people, I can see how that affects you greatly.

Also, apparently I'm not visibly queer enough at work and it isn't totally obvious that I'm a flaming queen. I blame "professionalism", and shall endeavour to remedy this in the future. I'll try some more subtle makeup, beyond my typical foundation. (I'm pretty sure I can get away with it because the guy who hired me is very gay, and my manager is super chill and seems a bit like a metrosexual, although I'm not quite sure what orientation vibes I'm getting from him. Also the company has very inclusive policies. And the people in the cosmetics department like me and I should get them to do my makeup one of these days.)

At least my coworkers seem okay with trans people. Even if they don't understand non-binary stuff at all. (For reference, I disclosed that one of my most recent crushes was on an NB person. I wasn't planning on broaching the subject, but at least I got to gauge some reactions. I don't think I could be out at this workplace, although I think I'd be fine as a trans woman. Once I get on hormones. Which I've been meaning to pursue for months because there's literally nothing stopping me at this point and I don't know why I haven't done it yet.)

IMO, cis men and cis women are shitty in different ways wrt transmisogyny and relationships. Cis men are more likely to beat you up because they're afraid that their attraction to you makes them gay. Cis women are more likely to be TERFs who want to keep that precious gold star of theirs.

Unfortunately some people think guns are the only way people can defend themselves. To the point where they think that banning privately owned weapons means that self-defence is illegal.

Can't. Australia's gun laws only allows me to use it for hunting or for use at a gun range.
