I mean, hell, that is a good point. If some people think it's okay to fly the flag of one of the United States' historical enemies on public property, why not the rest? Let's clutter up the poles with everything from the Union Jack to the Reich Swastika.

Syria and the USSR used to be allies, you can hardly say that about the 3rd Reich.

Well, that's probably because at the time the Third Reich existed, Syria wasn't actually a country, it was just a French mandate, and before that it was part of the Ottoman Empire.
Also, how is that at all relevant to anything at all?

In capitalism, you pretty much have a 50/50 chance of being rich or poor. In communism, it's 1/99. What makes people think they have the luck/skill to become the 1% if they can't even succeed in a 50/50 society???

Well actually the Syrian Mandate was allied to Germany. With the creation of Vichy France, the Syrian Mandate was technically allies with Germany.
Of course it was liberated in 1942, but for a time it was allied to Germany.

Really? I thought it was still controlled by Free French forces.

It was about slavery, just accept it. There were more issues, but it all boiled down to slavery. Since colonial days, north and south were divided over slavery. And for the white privilege homophobes playing the race card, just stop it.

But you can just march around with the Nazi flag. This is America, a country where you're allowed to express your opinions on subjects irrespective of whether they offend people. You know, like a civilized nation is supposed to behave.

Yes, but no one flies the Nazi flag over government buildings, and the Confederate flag shouldn't get the same privilege.

Yes, because flying the flags of nonexistent nations over government buildings not owned by those nations makes no sense, not because those things are offensive. You're not going to see the Byzantine Flag flown over any government buildings either. It's not because the Byzantine Flag is "offensive to muslims", it's because Byzantium doesn't exist anymore.

If a constituency or town in Germany voted to have the Nazi flag fly over their government building, would you consider that offensive?
The Confederate flag is clearly offensive. Its a symbol of racism and slavery.

Well one, Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany, so that wouldn't happen. Two, it wouldn't make sense, because the Nazi Reich no longer exists. Three, no, because I'm not an infant and I don't get upset by looking at symbols of things I don't like. I have bigger problems in my life than someone expressing their opinions.
If it's so offensive then how come there are pictures of southern blacks wearing or waving the Confederate Flag?
