Not trying hard enough. They need to use liquid gold as sauce and wads of $100 bills as buns. Then we will truly have perfect the art of wasting resources.

Also, that looks like someone accidentally dropped a bunch of different foods on each other and then decided 'Eh, fuck it, let's try and sell it anyway.' Seriously, pretty sure I see some caviar in there.

Thanks for making me not eat for the next week.

God that looks disgusting and probably doesn't taste so good, of course I would not ever think about eating that, unless it came free of course.

Endlessly amusing to watch how free food affects people.

"There's a sucker born every minute"

I'll go with a simple burger handmade at home with my seasoning mix with some lettuce, onions and a slice of Swiss on a store-bought onion bun and save 99.9%. Tastes great.

It probably tastes like shit due to the goofy ingredients but it's gold plated...bad news is unless you like digging through dookie that's all lost.

From the price, or the burger?

BTW, looking at the check next to the burger, apparently there's a 12.5% service charge attached (which works out to be another $137.50).

Both.

This looks... Disgusting. I'd rather have tons of hot pockets or Wendy's than this, ever.

It lost me at lobster - not to mention the strong flavour of duck egg and the clash of two different truffles, caviar, maple syrup and mango blech!
I would happily eat the different ingredients as separate meals but in that mish mash most of the flavours are going to be lost to the point that it may as well be a bad goulash.

But then I don't think flavour was really the point of the experiment - its all about ostentation and debauchery

That sounds and looks awful. Who the hell would want to eat a burger with caviar, lobster, and all that other shit on it? :eyebrow:

Could be less "free food overrides my taste buds" and more "could this mysterious, revolting-looking pile of garbàge actually taste decent"? That scientific curiosity can be much more easily quenched when the cost of the likely "no" answer isn't $1,770.

Seriously, a $1,770 burger? It sounds like a kludge, a mash-up of high end ingredients thrown together just to say they could. I can't imagine that it tastes very good, with all those rich ingredients in there competing for supremacy. I bet Gordon Ramsay would tell them they're trying too hard. And this is from an American diner-style restaurant called Honky Tonk. I don't believe these people understand what a REAL American style diner is.

What do you think, foodies of NSG? If given the opportunity, would you try such a burger or would you pass (I'd pass)? Is it trying too hard, or not hard enough (IMO, it's trying too hard)? Could you design a burger for less, that would taste restaurant quality (yes, I could)?

Yep, satire is dead. Dude saw the douche burger & thought it was in all seriousness a good idea, so set out to top it. Then the finance media wrote a sloppy blowy of a puff piece about the result. Our species is beyond hope.

Man...I just end up eating a burnt hamburger patty I tried to cook myself and slap a piece of extra sharp cheddar on it and pray the bun did not get crusty while I was trying to salvage the damn thing.

This on the other hand...makes my hamburger charburger seem like something a food network cook would cook. I would still try it if it was free...

The real travesty here is the restaurant name. Why in the sane hell would you name your restaurant Honky Tonk?!

If they gave me 1,770 I'd rather take 50 meals at my local German cafe instead.

Sauerkraut with potato salad, a generous serving of fried pork. Three types of sausages. It comes with ice cold German beer, nice and acidic.
