2020-2024 coins are actually rather rare themselves, from personal experience. I have more 18th century pennies than I do from the 2020s

You should probably edit this and remove the rarity scale. Absolutely not standardisable between countries. In the UK, 1p coins from 1971 are some of the most common to find in change (again: personal experience), given how many were minted in the first year of decimalisation.

I agree, really. The age of a coin isn’t necessarily an indicator of its value, scarcity or overall rarity.

I usually wash my hands after handling coins.

However, it is advised not to touch your coins at all - or at least minimise contact - since they can be worn down and become damaged from constant exposure to the skin’s moisture or naturally occurring oils. Many wear gloves whilst handling them, although I personally just prefer holding them from the edge rather than in the centre so as not to potentially damage the coins.

Oh, thank you for informing me! I normally hole them from the centre, but now I'll hold the from the edge.

You should also definitely wash yourself after it. The bacteria population on old coins are skyrocketing!

Hey, nice. I have a selection of Danish ‘Ore’ coins from the 1950s, but no modern Kronas.

This particular ‘ore’ coin was from the 50’s, but had no hole in if I recall correctly.

Recently been in Amsterdam. Managed to visit two antique places, and picked up rather a few coins from both the Netherlands and overseas. Even managed to pick up a lovely Chinese coin from the Medieval period, as well as an old US dollar from 1892.

If you found them that's pretty rare, but if you bought it yeah.

Yes, I bought them. Still, the old US dollar (amongst others) is rare, and not easy to come by. Either finding them yourself, or when purchasing them. Found some more coins today and managed to get about 20, including several African coins predominantly from the South-ish of the continent in places like Botswana and Malawi. Very cool stuff, and excited to do some research on them at a later date.

Last day of holiday, so made sure to visit a coin store in Belgium before I leave. I was thankfully able to find a good few more coins for a low price, the oldest one dated at 1835.
