What on earth makes you think that China exclusively started it?

It's always been deliberately ambiguous. It's always been thematically significant that the world doesn't know.

I think he thinks China started it due to the beginning of 4, where your neighbors are all like "omg the commies nuked us" and the shock of the news reporter. But if we're being honest here, would a government really tell its people it was about to cause a nuclear holocaust? The mere surprise from some people is not confirmation China struck first.

I do believe the very, very few hints we are given lean slightly toward "China did it", but we have no way of knowing for certain.

I also found it odd how the war was called "the Great War" instead of "World War III". The latter has a... "cooler" ring to it, so I'm surprised they didn't go with it (unless the war is referred to as "WW3" on occasion, and I simply missed it).

If you go to Mama Dolces in Arlington, you find a bunch of Chinese operatives who have been ghoulified and apparently don't know that it's been 200 years since the world ended. You can also find a pre-war radio broadcast of Chinese propaganda being broadcast from there.

I always loved the mystery of figuring out who to blame, but at the same time coming to peace with the deaths of billions, and the coming of a new world.

I mean, looking at the lore, I still think it's fairly likely that the Chinese launched first. Mechanized infantry units equipped with power armor were cutting the Chinese mainland apart. They were probably going to fold within a few months, a year tops, if internal concerns didn't cause America to collapse first. The United States had essentially no reason to push the button, unless Chinese missiles were already in the air.

So apparently we're going to Maine? I figured it was a possibility, was hoping for the Vineyard though or it's windswept neighbor. If Maine gets the spotlight I'm holding some hope for Vermont too and some Green Mountain Boys counterpart to the Minutemen. Canada I heard has some demand from the fans and maybe the Yangtze will let us travel to a faraway place. It's supposed to be an "American" game but conventions have been knocked down hard before so *shrugs*.

I mean the official anouncement said an island off the coast of Main, so Vermont is more or less entirely out of the picture. You'd be closer to Nova Scotia.

It survived up until the Great War, and actually strengthened ties with the US. I think one of the premade backgrounds in the original game was that of the granddaughter of a Soviet diplomat serving at a consulate in LA.
