How do you have half a foal?! That seems far too exciting and out there for that pairing!

It's a bit of a joke about how utterly "normal" they are. Back in the day and for quite a while, I'm pretty sure, mathematically speaking, the "average" family had 2.5 kids. I've also very rarely heard restaurant hostesses call a "party of [number] and a half", to mean the party plus an infant or very young child, so Big Mac and Maud could well be the standard TV nuclear family of Mommy and Daddy plus a colt, a filly, and a baby. That never ages, for some reason.
