Spaceballs. One of the funniest comedies I've ever seen.

I also find that, despite the cult following of the parodies, Downfall itself is a great movie.

Also, I enjoyed Atlantis: the Lost Empire. A change of pace from most Disney movies.

Did the second half suck because John died at the end? :p

Mary and Max.

Made me cry* when I watched it on a flight to Australia.

*Granted, I was perhaps a couple years short of my current age and I'm diagnosed as being autistic, so the story probably hit home more for me than it might to other people. Still seems like it was really critically well received regardless and... well, I don't think I know anyone who's seen it before, though I never asked, so perhaps it counts.
Now mostly a politik discuss account.

What's the criteria for "unpopular" we're using? A lot of the films mentioned thus far have received poor critical review or performed sh!ttily at the box office, but still have solid cult followings or experienced some sort of critical renaissance years after its release.

The Adventures of Mark Twain was a 1985 film that spawned this infamous mindfu@k (seriously, don't go do some not drugs and watch this). The whole film's actually pretty entertaining, if not bizarre and unnerving. I think it's available to stream someplace after a Google search or two.
I'm obligated to point out that I've been dicking around here under a medley of monikers since mid-2013, since longevity
and post counts are the two primary factors considered when assessing the worth and validity of any given poster's opinion.

Click this link to a context-blind, four-paragraph post I wrote in a random NSG thread in the summer of 2011
that indisputably validates my belief that I am one of the brightest minds in this community.

I thought it was pretty good. It was probably a bit tough for people to stand since it was so perverse and the kid was a massive shit the whole movie.

well, yeah, but it's not meant to taken entirely seriously. It is a dark comedy, after all

though I can see some people not seeing a movie that revolves around auto-erotic asphyxiation
'Cause music is bigger than words and wider than pictures

By unpopular, I mean there isn't a big group of people screaming its names.
If it has good reviews but basically no fanbase, that is unpopular.

I suppose that means:
A. Failure at box office
B. Critical acclaim

Hence why I abstained from putting a more recent movie, like Whiplash (Which I have seen) in: It may become a big box office smash (Or, at the least, profitable)

Mary and Max has, to my knowledge, been critically acclaimed, but failed to get a cult following or a good box office, so it seems to fit into this criteria.

Unpopular in this case means:
Nearly no fanbase, but it can have critical acclaim.
So Troll 1 and 2 (for example) are not unpopular in this case.

So… does HTTYD 2 count as a good unpopular movie? As far as I know, its only fan bases are on Tumblr and Berk's Forumvine.
