I'm quite the fan of music from the Halo franchise, and the scores for Cloud Atlas, Oblivion and Skyrim are solid favourites of mine as well.

In Metal Discussion thread there was some talk about the best decade in music. I did a bit of research and here are my results:
Number after the year indicates the amount of "perfect" (100/100) albums. "Album" contains full lengths, EPs, live albums, 4+ song demos and 4+ song splits.

Top 3 years
1. 2010 with 12
2. 2009 with 10
3. 2005 and 2006, both with 8

Top 3 decades
1. 2000s with 56
2. 1980s with 45
3. 2010s with 29

The 2010's era is looking like it is off to a good start.

I think I have the most listened to albums in that period of time, solely because I started getting more into seriously listening to music in that period of time.

Really quick check reveals that my top three years in the amount of songs are 2011, 2009 and 2010, while the top three years in the total length are 2011, 2010 and 2012. Overall score top three are 2005 (34,9 hours 4,75/5), 1990 (21,7 hours 4,75/5) and 1988 (20,1 hours 4,75/5)

But when excluding cruel numbers, (seriously 100+ releases with 100 score and 10,000+ songs at 5/5) it's hard to say the best year

I count them because it's kinda easier. Because I have few albums that have only 2 (ex: Moonsorrow - Luku V: Hävitetty), 3 (ex: Yes - Close to the Edge) or 4 (ex: Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss) songs. If I didn't count EPs I might miss those albums

I've heard some of his stuff (I think you gave me some links actually, either in the WAYLT thread or this one).
It's nice, though not something I'd listen to often since I'm not that big of a rock fan.

Krautrock, post-rock, gothic rock, psychedelic rock, and progressive rock all have separate playlists (Though, Erkin Koray gets described as progressive rock and psychedelic rock, as well)

I got to the point where I was like "F this" with making a gazillion sub playlists and just made one big super one

Kinda like how all my metal just goes into one playlist.

I might make separate ones later, but eh.

My rock playlist only has 66...and I include metal in it.
Though, there's stuff I still need to add to it. I never fully transferred it over to Rdio when I stopped using Google Music. I need to start going through RHCP and Primus albums as well...

Out of curiosity, why did you leave Google Music and go to Rdio?

The app was really glitchy, and the interface looked horribly cheap. Even as old as Spotify's looks, Google Music is worse. It was kind of a pain to make playlists with it as well, and there wasn't a desktop application available for it. It also seems to have a smaller library.

Then I checked out Rdio: beautiful interface, much easier to make playlists than Google (though Spotify is still probably better), mobile app was less glitchy, there's a place to save albums without having to make a separate playlist for them, and just an overall better experience. I like that it automatically generates a radio station based on everything you've been listening to, and it keeps track of your listening history for you to view.

It's not perfect: no playlist folders, no genre searching, and there are a few glitches with the desktop and mobile app (but they don't really keep it from being functional), but I like it more than Spotify and Google.

Finding out about playlists folders was such an awesome discovery on Spotify . Before I knew about it, you can probably imagine how much of a pain in the ass it was like for someone like me to go through all of my playlists scattered all over the place.

I actually think Spotify is better after the latest update, even if the interface may be a little large. Multiple people seemed to have a weird crashing issue at the start, but it has been working for me since, better than before. Much easier to move things around on a playlist, for one.
