Spotify ads helped me discover this lovely piece of indie.

I wouldn't say I'm an indie guy, but damn...that was awesome.

It's only gotten about 8000 listens according to Spotify. It deserves so much more.

Indeed. I found that song (and the album it's on) on Rdio ( I use that instead of Spotify). The whole album only has 4,877 plays on there...
Definitely gonna listen to it tonight.

I haven't given it a dedicated listen, but from what I could tell, the rest weren't nearly as good as that. Gilded Oldies was great, too, though.

I don't get why the worse version of Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood that's on the older EP is more listened to than the better version on the newer album (I Love You).

About the only music I know from Turkey is 70's Turkish rock. I don't know any like, actual traditional music from there.

Probably the only kind of dubstep I'd at least find tolerable then.

About the only music I know from Turkey is 70's Turkish rock. I don't know any like, actual traditional music from there.

It's glorious. Turkish is such a beautiful singing language (and spoken). I actually tried learning Turkish at one point (had too many other things to do, so I gave up on it).
In general actually, I enjoy the sound of Middle Eastern languages when they're sung.

I suck at trying to learn languages so I kinda just gave up period.

I suck at doing anything, but yeah.

So do I. Which is why I wish Myrath would sing in Arabic more...

I'm not really aware of anyone using 'alternative rock' as a genre label at all over here, e.g. Foo Fighters = Rock, Linkin Park = Nu Metal (or they did, back in the day, might have changed now?), The Strokes = Garage Rock, The Black Keys = Blues Rock, Arctic Monkeys = Indie. According to the Wiki page, Alternative Rock encompasses BritPop - I can't think of anybody within the UK that would describe Blur, Oasis, Supergrass, etc. as alternative, so that seems a bit odd to me.

Yay, Baris Manco! :)

I agree with you nostalgic Turkish pop/rock is perhaps the best Turkish music, imo.

I keep thinking about giving some full Erkin Koray and Cem Karaca albums a try, but I have so much else to go through as is.

Sometimes, used to listen to mashup a long time ago. Kind of grew out of them.
When properly done they can be great, but never for repeated listens in my opinion.

This happened yesterday. That woman who died is my aunt, and the boy is my little cousin. Also, the little girl in serious condition is also my cousin. It's just so surreal to actually have such a major crash like this happen to my family...Especially right after the big huge family get together that was probably the biggest in years, which was last weekend. Now I really wish I could have gone, and I also had this really bad feeling that something bad was going to happen before I could see some family members again :(

Oh my gosh Corrian, I'm so sorry :o

That's terrible news. I hope your family is able to heal and get through this hard time. I'm very close to my cousins and I know if anything happened to them, I'd be depressed for quite awhile...

I don't live down near them, so I've only seen these cousins once, but still. And I'm not like super close to my aunt, either, mostly because, again, I don't see them much, but doesn't matter. They're family. It just may make it easier for me to recover from it than if it was my cousins that I'm REALLY close to, and are probably my favorites. Or, say, if it was my parents or grandparents. I just feel bad for my grandpa because that aunt is his daughter. And my little cousin in the hospital who may now have to live without her mom and brother (She's in critical condition, so I don't know what will happen). And my aunts wife who just lost a large chunk of her family :(

The whole reason the crash happened is another thing that's weird to me. Like my mom said (Who has never met the kids), if there's anything my aunt is good with, it is being a mom. So her driving erratically is just...Not something that sounds like it is her just driving crazy while the kids are in the car. Makes me think something else happened to cause the erratic driving.

Ugh, and I hate how I felt like something bad was going to happen between this last Easter party (Which was last weekend), the one I couldn't go to, and next year when we're hoping to go down there because this whole big family get together thing and not seeing lots of family for a while is getting to us, I just didn't expect it to be so damn soon. I wish I could be down there right now, but alas, we have no money to do much of freaking anything right now...

It's making me rethink about wanting to move down there to be closer to family again. I wanted to do that at one point, but then thought that I don't really want to live down there because I love it up here in Washington, but I dunno again...Most of my family is down there, but some of my favorite family members are up here...Parents, aunts, and cousins...

Bah.

*Threadjack over*

Edit: Yes, a bit of good news. Apparently my cousin that was seriously injured is going to be okay. Probably will have lots of problems for a while, but she's okay.
