I've never even heard of half of those :P

Only listened to like 4 or 5 you mentioned.

I think I like the Liars album more than you did, because I rated it like a 8.5/10

I see quite many people mentioning Behemoth's new album. I might check just for the fuck of it. Didn't really like Evangelion all that much.

It's nowhere near as revolutionary as people make out, but it's a good listen

Kinda like how hardcore in general seems to be for me, no matter how hard I try to give it a try.

Though I need to still try even harder.

The vocals from the album aren't usually something I'd get into, either, but I guess I ended up tolerating them quite well.

I think I just like the dark electronic feel of it.

I never really liked Behemoth either. Until I heard The Satanist. Easily my favorite album of the year so far. 8.5/10.

But you always seem to be disappointed by death metal, so I can't promise you'll like it.

Every Tuesday I check iTunes Radio to see what I can listen to on FirstPlay, but in recent weeks it's been mostly electronic and pop that, while it may be cool, I have no interest in. :(

Speaking of lists, I have a list of everything I've listened to from this year in order of how much I liked it. It's right here:

2014 albums listened to
(From best to worst)

--would recommend
Post Tropical--James Vincent McMorrow
Is There Anybody Out There?--A Great Big World
Supermodel--Foster The People
Gárgola--Chevelle
After The Disco--Broken Bells
Reflections-EP--MisterWives
Tremors--SOHN
G I R L--Pharrel Williams
Morning Phase--Beck ( I realize this looks really low, but I only listened through it once or twice without paying TOO much attention and not a ton really stood out. Good relaxing music though.)
Love Death Immortality--The Glitch Mob

--wouldn't probably recommend
Mind Over Matter--Young The Giant (((one great song, the rest is pretty forgettable)))
Fading West--Switchfoot
Atlas--Real Estate (((Almost; missed one song)))
QueenRushMuse Yeah!
"Come on, you know I'm at least half crazy. (weird people live longer)"--Bohlatopia

"We need more songs about pets and less about breakups and romances and love stories and blah blah blah."--Corrian

"If you see it darling, it's there."--Freddie Mercury

"I don't need a girl
Don't need a friend
Cause my friend lonesome's unconditional."
--Max Collins, EVE 6

"Blah blah"--Alex Lifeson

"The most endangered species
The honest man
Will still survive annihilation
Forming a world
State of integrity
Sensitive, open and strong"
--Neil Peart
"Why would one want to not be weird? If you aren't weird then you are normal, and you know something about normal...it doesn't exist.

I listened to several songs of it, but haven't finished it. I think it will be at least a 7 once I listen to it more. Altar of Deceit and Black Snow are the standouts for me so far.

Actually I just listened to the new Neon Trees album too. It's fine and everything, but not particularly special, though I adore the melodies, instantly classic. Would sound straight out of the 70s/80s with more guitar and less keyboard.

I like Morning Phase, but I think Beck's earlier album in that style was better.

And I forgot I was thinking about listening to Broken Bells. Oh well.

Your most listened to track is higher than most of my most listened to artists/bands...

Also, it says our music compatibility is High, with Silversun Pickups, CHVRCHES, Arcade Fire, Phantogram, and The Naked and Famous being the ones we have in common.

At my current rate of listening, I'll likely overtake you in how much I've listened to by the end of summer, if not sooner.

Because they consider the two genres to be the same exact thing, well, most of them anyway.

I'm not really aware of anyone using 'alternative rock' as a genre label at all over here, e.g. Foo Fighters = Rock, Linkin Park = Nu Metal (or they did, back in the day, might have changed now?), The Strokes = Garage Rock, The Black Keys = Blues Rock, Arctic Monkeys = Indie. According to the Wiki page, Alternative Rock encompasses BritPop - I can't think of anybody within the UK that would describe Blur, Oasis, Supergrass, etc. as alternative, so that seems a bit odd to me.

Speaking of BritPop, the BBC have been celebrating 20 years of BritPop (god that makes me feel old) and as part of this released the 40 Favourite BritPop Anthems (as voted for by Radio 6 listeners, so not definitive by any means). There are some brilliant songs on the list, which I have handily recreated for you with links below:

Save the Creme Egg!

Tim Minchin wrote:I'm not pessimistic about the supernatural, but rather I'm optimistic about the natural
Jasper Fforde wrote:If the real world were a book, it would never find a publisher. Overlong, detailed to the point of distraction - and ultimately, without a major resolution.
Dennis the peasant wrote:Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
