Why I have this mental image of orks herding pure forms into combat.

It's not all that unfounded, in the older editions Squigs were said to be Tyranids taken as pets.

Perfectly legitimate Ork tactic, yes. And while they're at it, they'll probably improvise a few tanks by using whatever wreckage, machinery and material is around.

Star Trek does get wiped out techwise, though.

i've seen this page. It's bullshit. It presumes an honest portrayal of certain technological aspects from the EU which basically amounts to "sure, their weapons have a higher energy output then the sun, why the fuck not?" while handwaving certain major technological advances that star trek universe has, namely replicators, transporters, and cloaking. The issue is, people forget, Star Trek universe is generally told through the perspective of a peaceful, diplomatic government, where as Start Wars is an imperalisitic, military one.

the flagship of star fleet isn't a hulking military vessle precisely BECAUSE it's the flag ship, and is meant to explore, interact, and negotiate with other species. Not obliterate them.

If you want to see what the star trek universe is capable of militarily, you have to extrapolate existing technology used in a combat situation. And I contend that a cloaked ship using tactical transporters and zero point energy quantum torpedos can pretty much fuck with whatever they threw at it. And mass produced to boot, because of replicator technology.

And that's nice and impressive, but it doesn't negate the fact that Star Trek is not one of the universes we're talking about in this thread.

True, though the topics actually listed are generally beaten in one thread.

i've seen this page.

I know the numbers are completely over the top. Of course they are, because they can pull whatever numbers they like out of their asses, use them for plot devices (like with the whole asteroid thing) and really not care since it's all made up anyway. Comparing two sci-fi shows on their techs is fairly redundant, but nonetheless there as one of the few unbiased (I don't think people created the specs with the idea of making sure they outdid Star Trek) options since 'which is best' is purely subjective, and at least tech gives you values, however varied.

Anyway, I'd disagree with you on some of your points. Replicators, presumably fairly high energy guzzling machines because a) Voyager has a replicator food ration throughout it's entire trip, despite the fact that food is fairly small size wise, and post season 1 and 2 they don't suffer many supply shortages, or make many references anyway, and b) I presume the Federation would have used replicator technology on a massive scale during the Dominion War, given the huge attrition rate they had. Either they didn't, as it has a too high energy cost as I previously suggested, or they did and it simply didn't produce enough ships.
Transporters are pretty much useless while shields are still up, if SW shields are taken to have the same effect. There are some non-Federation exceptions to this rule, however.

Cloaking? I suppose I'll have to give you that. Nonetheless, ships have to decloak to fire, which gives the SW ships ample time to counterattack (and if tech values are taken to be real) destroy the ship. And with the exception of the Scimitar, most ships in fleet engagements seem to turn their cloaking devices off for the entirety of the engagement; that many, however, be due to the fact that the Dominion can detect cloaked ships anyway.
