Toonami. Is. Back.

Postby Azrael » Wed May 16, 2012 8:34 pm

http://www.adultswim.com/shows/toonami/index.html

It appears as though the push that Toonami fans made since April Fool's was enough to bring forth the block's heavily anticipated return. As one such fan, I am super excited and grateful that AS and CN listened to the fans' opinions and brought back Toonami. Not only am I heavily looking forward to it, but I would like to see how it can attract new fans. I absolutely can't wait to see how the block would look and what it's lineup would be like. One can only wait.

Toonami returns.

Also, since no schedule has been released yet as of now, there is speculation regarding what Toonami's new programming would be. My guess is that it would include some of its older, more popular shows while also bringing in some of the more recent and popular anime that have been dubbed already, like Fairy Tail.

I'm pretty sure it's what they played on April 1st again.

They need to get the rights to some new shows or it won't last - nostalgia can only go so far. I've heard the Cromarty dub is pretty good...

Hopefully they get some more Gundam in the lineup- if memory serves Wing (and later G Gundam and SEED) did fairly well for them.

Ooh. Madoka on Adult Swim. That would be bitchin'!

Yeah, I think more Gundam is almost a given. And I knew I wasn't the only one who pictured Madoka somewhere in the lineup. It's quite possible, but may be a risk to bring in at the very beginning.

Eh. I liked Bobobobobobobobobobobobo (however long it goes on) as a kid, but anime as a whole no longer appeals to me.

Nicktoons airs it.

Yeah, DBZ Kai. Also, it's a hell of a lot more censored than what Toonami could get away with (especially with Adult Swim.) :P

Well it shows the anime fans have influence in the US, even if it took them almost half a decade to return to the air, about a half a decade after it started going downhill. Personally I don't care, even the worst anime is better than Tim and Eric Awesome Show or Dr. Steve Brule or that show about the guy in the ski mask. Honestly all anime is better than the terrible live action adult swim shows. Although FLCL was pretty trippy, helped to ensure that my nightmares would be more surreal than outright terrifying.

It was a sub-channel thing like adult swim that used to be on cartoon network, but instead of hosting shows made using flash, shitty live action shows, or shows by Seth McFarlane, it showed only anime. Cartoon Network abandon it as their network slid into decay but now Adult Swim is bringing it back, which makes sense since they always hosted anime shows in some form at some time. Meanwhile Cartoon Network continues to slide into decay by making a shitty Mad TV cartoon which is like a PG Robot Chicken (read: no jokes about rape or cartoon characters over 5 years old) and bringing back the Looney Toons, but messing it by missing the point of the original cartoons by making it like a crappy cartoon sitcom.

We demand Adventure Time. (We also would like ponies, but that seems very unlikely.)

I'd like to think so, but unless they're going to reach as far back as 00 the only thing they can play right now is AGE. And AGE is just awful.

Besides, the best Gundam right now is an OVA, and Bandai's releasing it with audio dubbing by default. Unicorn is brilliant.
