Wouldn't it? I know great people aren't perfect, and Aang not being a perfect father is kinda understandable with the amount of stuff the Avatar would have to be dealing with, but I don't want every character from the old series to be an awful parent.

As the Avatar Korra derives her power from being the one that maintain balance. Between Humans and spirits, between nations and so forth. She needs to maintain both somewhat of a popular opinion and justification for her actions.

The President was a democratically elected leader that told her to leave his city. She couldn't exactly refuse him.

Though it looks like that order may have been rescinded. Possibly.

Probably, when you think that Aang spent a lot of time training Tenzin and Kya probably had a special connection with Katara through water-bending (and being a girl and all but moving on) Bumi probably felt very left out and lonely at times.

Yeah, but he had Uncle Sokka and (probably) Aunt Suki. Thus, Bumi became the warrior he is today.

1. Highly unlikely. Only the Avatar can bend more than one element.

2. Toph is still humans. We're talking Toph's own daughter. Not only would Toph not want her own daughter in jail, but the police chief's daughter being in jail would be bad publicity. Considering those factors, Toph's action seems like a expected (if not necessarily commendable) response.

Not really. There are plenty of those demi-Avatar characters in fanfiction. I doubt the writers could pull it off without making a Mary Sue.

Honestly, most people would probably do the same thing that Toph did, when put in that situation.
