499 pages? I can hardly believe it.
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

mods... the show is over... can you let the thread live for another thirty pages? there really is no point to creating a new thread only for it to die.

One very well-written article in Vanity Fair called it subversive (in a good way, of course)… I would say a better word might be “healing.” I think your finale was healing for a lot of people who feel outside or on the fringes, or that their love and their journey is somehow less real or valuable than someone else’s… That it’s somehow less valid. I know quite a few people in that position, who have a lifetime of that on their shoulders, and in one episode of television you both relieved and validated them. That’s healing in my book.”

and so the creators of Avatar brought balance to the world. the real one.

Interesting. As I said before, I've never been a Korrasami shipper. However, as a rule, I'm willing to go along with whatever the canon ship is. Therefore, I could get behind Korrasami. Furthermore, I do have to applaud Bryke for depicting a same-sex relationship in show supposedly for kids (I personally think the suffocation of the Earth Queen removed any pretense that this show was for younger children, but regardless). Certainty a step in the right direction in terms of acceptance for LGBT people. Not sure how meaningful it is for LGBT acceptance considering that LoK has been online only for a while now, and thus not visible to a mainstream audience, but it's still a step.

Meh, never saw the big deal with the whole Korra-Assami thing other than the traditional appeal to the fans going through puberty. The Avatar universe has had somewhat of a tradition of tackling complex issues, particularly with Ledgend of Korra, so it's not all that surprising in itself.

They can take a week off - it's not three years. Relax. They'll have plenty of time to rebuild the Earth Kingdom.

True. On the other hand, it's the spirit world and I think the first few days are crucial. Leaders typically try to respond quickly and meaningfully to disasters for a reason.

Alaizia wrote:Azula is only one. No imitations.

Generation Xerox?

Also, why would a comet-enhanced firebender want to resurrect the Earth Empire? Is this person a fan of Kuvira? A firebender with Earth Kingdom ties? An usurper of the Fire Lord's throne? A butthurt relative of the Fire Lord? A madman/woman? Or all of the above?

The bolded was what I was thinking of and it's kind of what made me think of the Promise. Someone like Mako but who feels some sort of connection with the Earth Kingdom/Empire/Republic.

I would so like to have the Promise be made into online episodes (with the same cast of characters of cource). And maybe more adventures after that. Let's see more of Aang's lifetime. Same with Zuko. And surely find out what happened to Azula. One can only dream I guess.

Yeah, I'd kind of prefer further expansion of the original characters on account of their being more interesting than that of LOK. I mean, obviously, the rebuild post-Kuvira would make for a good story (you could even go with a Lake Laogai style political plot) but LOK seems more wrapped up than ATLA. Which is odd, really.

I still feel the foreshadowing of the end as reading better as friends has a disconnect with the end which I feel is really difficult to read as friends. Which is something of a difference for a universe which has, traditionally, been character sees character, character falls in love. For this reason I don't like Korrasami particularly much because I thought it wasn't what was happening... I don't actually have any alternative in mind. Oh well, it is and so it is.

I wish that his character arc had gotten some sort of satisfying ending of any sort, rather than being waived away with a sentence.
Like, if you're gonna set it up, pay it off.
But I suppose investing entire scenes to the characters we've watched grow over the course of the series would've cut into Zhurrick and Korrasami fanservice screentime, and since they already spent like eighteen minutes of the last episode with that pesky "conflict resolution" nonsense they had to make some tough decisions.

Korrasami was disappointing. Just adding it on at the end felt a little forced. There was far more opportunity for it in previous seasons when chemistry between the two was being explored.
