I can't believe it's already the series finale! What am I going to do without Ameri's incessant bitching about everything?
Check the Doctor Who thread...or the pony thread...or any thread about a TV show that I post in.

Then it's a lie. Everything Fox News says is a lie.

Since we're back on that topic apparently, I'll link to PBS Idea Channel's video on the subject:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRfv5a9QFu8
My position: Well, not really anime. Technically, ATLA/LoK can be considered anime since, from what I heard, the Japanese considered all animation to be anime. But if we look at the question using the non-Japanese definition (According to Wikipedia: "animation from Japan or as a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastic themes"), maybe no. While I believe 7 of LoK Season 2's 14 episodes were animated by Japan-based animation studio Pierrot, otherwise ATLA/LoK aren't technically anime because they're not made in Japan. While Wikipedia's definition makes it sound like ATLA/LoK share all other characteristics of anime, it's worth noting ATLA/LoK's animation is very different from the animation of stereotypical anime such as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. So, while the Avatar franchise definitely has anime influences, I would not categorize it as traditional anime. If we were asking if Avatar fit the definition of anime-influenced animation, that would be a different story.

Actually, the studio that animated 7 of S2's episodes was MADhouse.
Everything else was animated in the US.

Really? I have not heard that. Wikipedia keeps saying it's Pierrot. As a matter of fact, I don't even see anything saying MADhouse existed, let alone animated LoK. Forgive me for being dense, but are you trying to make a joke?
For the record, most of LoK is animated in South Korea by Studio Mir.

I will admit, flaming on a thread in which a mod regularly posts isn't the brightest idea.Reploid Productions wrote:Rich and Corporations wrote:He's a bitch, that's what he does.
*** Rich and Corporations, warned for flaming. *** Seriously, that one is so blatant even I can hand out the ruling despite participating in the thread.

Yes, it uses several elements from medieval China and feudal Japan, particularly in the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation, respectively. It also uses Chinese or Japanese text (I don't remember which one) for writing in the show. The Chinese/Japanese influences are far more prevalent in ATlA, however.
