In the same vein they have a store that players use and Niantic profits massively from, I don't see why "free to play" devalues the annoyance of some players for a massively hobbled game feature and radio silence on the issue?

This. Free to play is a business model like any other. F2P devs aren't like modders, dedicating time and effort to something for nothing in return. People need to understand that.

So what? That's not an excuse for anyone to not make a game the best it can be, in fact with how some free to play games make revenue they have the same standard as pay to play games.

Everyone but me gets mad about Pokémon Go? I wonder what is next?

Pokémon Grow – Instead of going out to catch Pokémon, players now have to raise Pokémon at home like they did in Tamagotchi. They earn new Pokémon for every successful upbringing. Micromanagement at its greatest, but also a disaster for social relationships.
Pokémon Ho! – You can catch all the Pokémon in one go, but you'll have to go to Westward Ho! in Devon. May cause a legal disaster with Niantic and Devon County Council due to the Pokémon fans clogging up the A39.
Pokémon Know – Players earn Pokémon by solving mathematical problems. I am not sure how this will be effective, since many people will just use the Internet to get the answer.
Pokémon Tycoon – Players set up and run their own Pokéstop down to the tiniest detail. I can already see how this will turn out

I'm sure the only reason those aren't already a thing is copyright issues.
Also for every one of these
I can already see how this will turn out

There's one of these

If this turns into a augmented reality version, players will only need to download and print images of the Pokémon that they want to catch and it will be all over in a grand total of 721 minutes (just over 12 hours) or less.

And I can already see a version of Pokémon Go where you don't have to leave home at all but you don't have to raise them like in Tamagotchi: Pokémon Home.

The best change for me so far is having the error boxes for "failed to log in" and "could not connect to server" appear on top on the Sign Out button. Saved me a lot of hassle trying to click the retry button that was only juuuust poking out from underneath.

That's bizarre, I literally don't have it. You see it under "settings" after clicking the pokeball?

I can't check atm, cause servers, but when I was looking earlier to turn the music and sounds off I noticed it wasn't there. Or at the very least, wasn't where it previously was.
It might have been moved, they've moved other stuff, like the transfer button. Hell, that took getting used to.

See this confuses me. With previous types it more often than not made some modicum of sense as to what types it was effective against another, both offensively and defensively. How'd they decide that with Fairy?

I think Balloon means that it took over the ice-type niche of being the go to anti-Dragon type. Might be wrong though.

Actually that's a good point. Ice's main selling point for me was always it's dragon killing capabilities

Here's the way I see it:
Dragon types are really powerful, and they can get work done if given time to set up. They also have only two weaknesses. One of those is itself.

The other is Ice.

Because of this, using both Dragon and Ice is a huge gamble. Dragon types are good all-purpose Pokemon, but other Dragons can take them down. Alternatively, Ice types are a good counter to an opponent's Dragon type, but the challenge is keeping them alive long enough to even use them. That's a fair tradeoff, and it forces you to evaluate risk vs. reward.
Then we get Fairy type, and all of that is gone. Ice type's claim to fame as the counter to Dragon is gone, because Fairy types are completely immune. That's not balanced.

That's a fair argument. I can imagine while deciding it's type advantages that they figured giving Dragon another foil might balance Dragon type out, but failed to take into account what it might do to it's existing foil.
