Japanese architecture IIRC resembles fire nation more, as well as Fire Nation's imperial ambitions, y'know like in WWII.

So an island nation that rapidly industrializes and starts building a colonial empire with a pretty strong level of respect/worship for the monarch doesn't seem like Japan at all?

With the revered but mostly unseen ruler that is more or less unaware of the world outside of his massive palace complex. With a massive bureaucracy that effectively leads in his place.

With a giant frickin' wall that blocks out a fearsome enemy! With a great deal of diversity in culture and climate from rainforests and swamps to deserts and grasslands?

The Earth Kingdom is Japan clearly. Couldn't be China, China has none of these things.

You know what disturbs me? the fact that, by the looks of it, nobody seems to have explained to Avatar Korra that if she is killed in the Avatar State, the avatar cycle will cease to exist. I mean, I am sure that she did not realize that from her battle with Dark Avatar Unalaq. So who will explain it to her? I mean, she uses the avatar state extremely frequently, and has a tendency to always lose, even when using it. So, someone should explain to her the fact that the avatar will cease to exist if she dies in the avatar state, and the true meaning of it, like Avatar Roku did for Avatar Aang. Unfortunately, at this time, Korra has no connection to her past lives, so they cannot do that for her. I hope this will change, because that girl really needs some spirituality, and needs to learn the true key to bending each element.
Then it's a lie. Everything Fox News says is a lie.

Well, since Wan we know that this factoid probably is not entirely true. Getting killed in the avatar state presumedly merely "destroys" Raava until she has regrown in about 10.000 years. After that she could find a new suitable human host.

Of course, that is assuming there would still be humans left by then ;)

You can't have an evil airbender for pretty much the same reason you don't hear much about Buddhist fundamentalist terrorists (yes, I know there are some evil Buddhists out there in the real world, but go with this...)

I mean Tenzin is probably the archetype for the worst way an airbender can end up, totally uptight. But the idea that airbenders would be malicious or power-hungry is a bit crazy.

Maybe there could be an ultra-powerful but emotionally troubled airbender who unintentionally generates devastating hurricanes...

Why not a rebellious other family of Airbenders who wanted to enforce peace by the destruction of enemies who were banished a few years before the complete genocide of Airbenders. They were focused on planing a painful vengence for both their exile and later the extermination of the fire nation became the priority task. However when Ozai was in the perfect position to be killed, Aang did what he did.

Later now they wish to covertly united the world the for second time after the time after the fire empire was formed and take there revenge on the remains of the Airbenders and their followers. And just to add salt to the wound, it turns out Vaatu instead of moving into a newborn child, moved into the body of the strongest of the dark Airbenders only to find out that he developed a multiple personality disorder both equally sadistic. So what do you think?
