Let's be honest here, what went on way most likely wayyyyyy over the PG-13 rule, if I saw that in the beginning of a movie's rating guide (which usually describes the nature of age-appropriateness, like "mild language," "suggestive content," etc) I wouldn't watch it. Add to the fact that there mightve been underage users involved, this is pretty serious. But panicking about the situation by padlocking your TG box just contributes to the hysteria.

I don't know... I've seen people turned DoS for far less frequent non PG-13 interactions in the past.

For the record, higher level or contentious punishments are handled by more than one moderator in most cases (I.e. Not just an adbot or someone pornspamming), so it's incredibly unlikely that Reppy decided all these cases alone.

I just wanted to state that I think this whole situation was handled HIGHLY unprofessionally. I understand, you all had to read through awful, low-quality smut with weird fetishes (I've seen shit that will make your eyes, ears, nose, and mouth bleed profusely, what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg of horrifying.). That has to suck, I get it.

My problem is publishing EVERYONE'S NAMES in this thread, instead of a simple 'you know who you are'. My name's already been shit on enough, running an F7 RP (Because TET loves to lump all of those in the same category despite my best efforts to be a decent thread. I digress), but this just brings it to a whole 'nother level of unprofessionalism. Like you guys are naming names as some sort of petty revenge for having to read it. My other problem is that people not involved are GLOATING about it. Last I checked, wasn't that sort of a thing about NS you weren't supposed to do? Even if not, it's still unprofessional, and on the parts of the normal nations doing it, it just makes you look like a holier-than-thou sort who considers themselves a paragon of purity. I get it, you like slathering yourself in oil and posing about how much of a saint you are. But it's obnoxious, and you really do look like an ass when you go 'i told you so'.

That's my two cents on it now that I've had time to sleep on it. This really was handled with all the care and grace of repeatedly smashing an egg against a table to break it.

Well, it's not just about "site-wide rules" for some though.

For many, it means that what they feel is a rather sensitive topic to talk about with someone can't be talked about anymore since TGs are not private as people thought they were.

Plenty of sensitive topics can be dealt with in a PG-13 manner, but plenty of sensitive topics between you and another person are now also not privy of being in front of a mod's computer next time they decide, for any different number of reasons, to check your TG box.

Thanks. And in my case, those thoughts were also in full awareness about the specifics of suicide, both with things I've seen in darker parts of the internet, and from what a psychologist in my family has told me about it before.

There's the unintentional side effect of everyone knowing exactly who's who, including myself. This means we're likely going to be rejected from future RPs on the basis of being on this list when it happened, kicked out of existing ones for being involved with this, or people not wishing to join an RP run by one of the players on said list because 'they're a dirty degenerate pervert'.

I get trying to control all the questions about people being deleted, but I don't think much thought went into the side effects of doing it this way.

Okay, I have to agree with to an extent there. Certainly details about exactly what went on wasn't necessary except maybe "it wasn't PG-13 and could best be described as 'adult oriented,'" and even the names provided weren't necessary. I value your opinion more on this matter mode than someone who just wants to use this as an excuse to gossip about mod habits and play oppression olympics, however, because you're actually someone affected by it.

New Strausberg was in my region. I was in several wars with him. I learned how to RP from him. Sad to see he'd do something stupid like this. In the end, despite all the conflicts, wars, and regional government arguments we had, we were friends.
