It's definitely not the warn tag, but someone with only a passing familiarity with its appearance might well mistake it for that at first glance. Is this verboten or allowable?

So long as it isn't the actual warn code, it's fine.

They used the actual warn code - i.e. *** this *** rather than *** this *** which is not the same.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I should make that black border on the warn tag thicker to better distinguish it from white text on red background. ._.;

In the dark themes, the warn code has white letters, so the difference is clear to us dark users.

Just a question on the tag:

Why is there no black border on the top of the tag? When I see it. I just see three sides blackened. Is this just me?

No it's that way for me as well. I presume it's intentional?

It probably has something to do with HTML to phpBB conversion.

I just saw a code, however, with all black borders.

Is this a glitch?

I wonder ... *** Warning here ***
vs a second *** Warning here ***
vs nocaps *** warning here ***

or nocaps with no above text *** warning here ***

Ayup - it's all in the surrounding text and how the system displays it.

Ahhh. That would make sense, then. Almost like the Spoiler/Quote issues.
Thanks!

Must ask though, as it relates to the thread, would players be allowed to use the redtext while asking about things pertaining to it? I won't for fear of a no answer, but if someone were to point out the easiness of making something look official and mod-y and used the redtext to show how easy it was, would they receive some sort of warn or ban?

Using the warning code in any way will result in a warning of some sort. Is it easy to do? Yea, it's quite easy, but if they have a question concerning it, they can simply refer to the warning tag rather than using it.

DLN,
On your example, i see the top use of the code doesn't have the black boarder along the top but every one after that does. Rather odd...

I get the feeling Ikania might have meant something along the lines of Is it an offence to have warn tags in a quote from a mod or someone replying to one?

Quoting a mod post that has a warning tag is fine. (Gets dodgy if you decide to edit the quoted text though. Don't do that when quoting the redtext in warning posts!) When quoting, it's readily apparent that you are not the one using the tag, the quote points right at the mod post made by a mod.

EDIT TO ADD: Also, made the border a tad thicker around the tag. Not entirely sure why it doesn't put it on the top of the thing though, the CSS for the border SHOULD be a solid border all the way around. May have to futz with it some more.

Hopefully not counting as spamming Moderation, but your border tinkering seems to have worked.

I think it's only when it's on the top line that the top border disappears - that's what my experimentation leads me to believe, anyways. Simple placement issue, something to do with the coding and how it interacts. In any case, thanks to the thickening of said border, I don't think it'll be easy to mistake going forward - thanks, Reppy. :)
