Another sporting sticky, please...

Could the NSWC Presidential Announcements thread please get a sticky; it's democracy in action, that one!

I've done it, but with reservations.

If we sticky World Cup announcements, we can't refuse to sticky World Boxing or World Bowling or World Farnarkling announcements.

Yet I can see the need, since you want to get a message to a large number of players and make it so that there's no excuse for saying, "I didn't see that."

End result (yes, I know this is exaggerated): a forum where the first page is nothing but stickies. Very off-putting for someone who just wants to get into a game.

OTOH, a catch-all "Sporting Announcements Sticky" that was dominated by a single sport might become annoying, since players in minority sports would have a lot to scroll through before finding their info, and might then quite reasonably say, "But I didn't see it."

Anyway, not a problem right now. Just putting it out there for consideration as the Sports side develops.

I can see precisely what you mean, but unless more than the current handfuls of nations (never more than around 20) that play, and have played, the 'minor' sports and tournaments for the last five/six years and more, suddenly burgeons into the 80-120 we get for every single cup (and there have been 46 of them so far) there'll be no need for any more.

The locked General Sports Guide, the General Sports Questions thread (which I admit is waaaaay less definite as to its sticky worthiness as Kryozerkia quite rightly pointed out) and the Presidential Announcements thread are the only ones that I can possibly see derserving/needing of sticky status for the forseeable future.

The Presidential thread was something we asked everyone to subscribe to but now I find the 'View Your Posts' option far easier to find stuff that I've been interested enough to post in and need to keep tabs on, making my subscribed list pretty much useless. Hence the sticky request and my subsequent thanks.

I wouldn't worry about that. As the person who generally gets the ball rolling for the 2nd (arguably) largest sporting competition on NS, the World Bowl, I would never ask for a sticky. The people who get the smaller (in comparison to the World Cup, but of a decent size) competitions in gear know where their sports lies in comparison to the World Cup and there is no "competition" as we are pretty much World Cup participants too.
