I apologize for the bland title of the post, but something has recently occurred to me regarding the captions under the forum names. If you will note, The Caption under General is as follows:
General
For discussion and debate about anything.
However, I note, that many players misinterpret this, including me, and post things that belong in different sections of the forum.
These are several examples of posts where players have been confused:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=84483 Should be in Art & Fiction
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=85187 Should be in Art & Fiction
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=82642 Should be in Art & Fiction
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=81551 Should be in Technical
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=80737 Shouldn't even be on NS
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=76547
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=73798 Should be in Factbooks and National Information
I could do this all day, but the point is that it happens in General more than anywhere else because players assume they can post anything there, and they are right in thinking so, because it says you can. And now while everyone knows that you should read The Almighty Stickies, the reality is that if everyone player read the stickies, we wouldn't have this problem. I haven't read all the stickies, because honestly there are so many and some of them just don't seem needed. The stickies explain the rules, but players are to ignorant to go and read them. And when a new player to forum sees "For discussion and debate about anything." he immediately will just start posting everything in there. And that is because it is for anything. And realizing that the perfect world where everyone reads the stickies will never exist, I feel that it is necessary to change the General Forum Caption to something a little less..."General". We should make it more specific.
Please post any of the following onto this thread:
-Opinions on what i have said
-Possible replacements for the general caption
-Any flaws you find in my post
-anything you think is useful to the discussion
-anything you feel should be added on or removed
Thank you.
