I really love the new NS look and all the newness. XD.

Tho it would be nice if it had a mobile version, well not that I can't use it on my phone just tend to be huge but having an android phone means it still works great. The old theme is a lil better for that. Still wish NS had a more mobile friendly version. XD.

The extra navigation links on region page are really cool and make the game more user friendly.

A web page with simple html and java will often render reliably in Firefox, Chrome, SeaMonkey, Safari, Konqueror, and Opera but will have one or more "known issues" in Internet Exploder. The fix is often inexplicable. Some days I imagine there are self loathing code gnomes in Redmond whose job it is to make sure IT Admin and web site developers have job security.

The opt-in theme change in Settings is perfect - serves up NS as you like it - and I think solves the "but IE won't play nice" issue by allowing IE users to opt out of a theme IE breaks, or opt in to a browser that behaves as advertised with the new bells and whistles.

I mean superficially, it looks like a table. Why not make it in to a table?

Because it's harder to style a table. For example, you can't draw a border around an entire table row, only individual cells.

As mentioned, once we have our default theme set, I'm going to go over it to make a more accessible-focused theme, and that will likely still use tables for RMBs, etc.

The forum unfortunately I can't do much about because we don't build it ourselves.

I think I need to start auto-redirecting more mobile devices to the mobile site (http://m.nationstates.net). At the moment only iPhones and iPods get redirected there.

Did you see my earlier post on this? If you are on the http://century.nationstates.net subdomain, that theme will be displayed regardless of your nation's settings.

I don't want our theme to have major usability issues in IE7 or IE8; too many players use those. But some cosmetic features will be missing, like rounded corners and drop shadows, since it's too hard to hack up special IE-only implementations. (This has been the case with NS for a while, maybe a couple years.)

IE9 is hopefully not too far away, and will (finally) support these things.

IE6 I don't know about. That is a real dog of a browser. But about 3% of visitors use it, which is quite a lot. I guess I'll try to make it look okay without wasting too much time on it.

Actually, I might have missed that, sorry--the wording on the first post threw me. But I like the way things work as they are!

I would have never have honestly known about it mostly because I rarely come to the NS forum XD. I tired the mobile version, much better, deffly.

But that would be a great idea to have more mobile devices to redirect to that or having a visible link somewhere that people can click on.

Don't think this belongs here, but I couldn't find a more appropriate place. On national pages, full nations' names are used. That makes my nation's page huge and awkward.

I'm not a fan of the globe graphic in the banner, though I guess it will grow on me.

My main problem is the flags appearing in the RMB. If they're going to be in there, please keep them the same size they are now.

I personally think this looks way too web 2.0. But it could work with some changes.

Solution: resign from the WA :P

But, seriously, I'd like to know whether this change is here to stay. It hoses some scripts on my end, and would like to know whether to start altering them or not...

Couple things:
  1. Button background color now white
  2. Nation pages have a "View Forum posts" link under National Happenings, if that nation has ever visited the forum. (It would make more sense if this link only appeared if the nation had ever posted in the forum, but that's harder.)

The button background color looks ugly, in my opinion, perhaps a different button color would be more suitable, to compliment the sidebar maybe, instead of blending with the background.

I thought the white background on the buttons was a bug till I read this. It looks terrible.

Me too. ;)

Perhaps a color like the EAEAE2 or something, something soft might work better at identifying it as a button.
