[idea] Replacement for "Today's Featured Region"

Postby The Shaved Pussycat » Thu Aug 25, 2016 6:34 am

While the daily "Featured Region" piece on the "World" page invites players/nations to look at possibly interesting regions, I don't think it has been generating much activity these days, at least compared to what it used to.

I am suggesting a change that might make it more relevant and interesting. How about replacing it with a daily "Regional Popularity Contest" where nations are given a chance to vote on a certain number (say, three) of random regions. The region that wins the day could be given an award (eg. a golden star) that goes on their region page.

This way, we could incorporate more random regions daily, while also making it competitive, and therefore more interesting. Thoughts?

Too complex the today's featured region is supposed to be simple adding a voting section and an award would diminish the general consensus of the feature

I have a feeling not that many people would vote. Also, for a small region, they may not even know if they are being featured, and didn't know they lost out on an opportunity. The voting system also has a chance to be rigged by puppets.

In short, random generation is much better.

Also, raiders would probably be more inclined to target the regions involved if they thought that they could get not just a trophy but a trophy with a golden star attached...

Maybe regions can be given a 72-hour notice before they feature in the polls.

So a region that had no inherent value prior to being featured now has a valuable golden star. I'm sure defenders would be just as willing to defend these valuable regions, if the R/D game has any meaning beyond tag-raiding.
