[Suggestion]Show Detail Effects Automatically

Postby Drasnia » Wed May 25, 2016 4:22 pm

I have a suggestion. Could an option in settings be added so that when you answer an issue, it will display the additional (detail) effects by default instead of having to click it every time? Thanks :)

I support this motion. I pretty much always view the detailed effects for an issue if I choose to view the effects.

I third this motion, it would be nice to be able to not have to click the one extra button.

Fourthed.

I've also noticed that the full/detail buttons as currently implemented both do the same thing, i.e. toggle the display.

It seems like a reasonably good thing to do.

If you don't want to wait for [violet], you can deal with this yourself by figuring out where your browser lets you set custom CSS and putting in the following line:
Code: Select all
html#page_enact_dilemma div.wceffects > a.wc-change { display:inline-block !important; display:inline-flex !important }
This should most accurately emulate default behavior. I don't even know what an inline-flex is, and I'm guessing some modern browsers still don't either, which would be why the code includes two definitions of the display property for backup - you can make do with just one if you know what your browser supports. You can, obviously, tinker even more if you want.

Why is not defaulting to all the results standard? What is gained by hiding some of the results instead of showing all of them?

Also, how does the system decide which results are shown and which are put under "detail" requiring an extra click to show?

And lastly, why are the "detail" results sometimes the largest changes? You would think that the largest effect of deciding on an issue would be shown automatically and that "detail" would just be very minor changes.

The stats that are shown automatically are the ones that are affected directly by the issue or you have badges for (top 1%, 5%, and 10%), while the details are all the ones not directly affected (secondary and tertiary effects) and aren't badges of yours.

Can an editor confirm this? This is a likely hypothesis.

[violet] wrote:Stats are hidden behind the "Detail" button when ALL of the following are true:
  1. They're not directly modified by that issue, e.g. your Trout Fishing industry rises, but only because of a flow-on effect from something else.
  2. You don't hold a trophy for that ranking.
  3. The ranking isn't a primary one, which means all industry and government department rankings as well as rankings that can be easily intuited from something else (e.g. "Crime" is deemed to be primary, "Compliance" is not)
